COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Bottle. Amber. Nice hoppy aroma. A little funky. Very hoppy. Not too heavy. Could have a longer finish.

Can from Dennis Brothers. Pours orange/brown with almost no head. A lot of carbonation under the surface. Nice lacing. Aroma has terrific grassy hops. Pine, resin, some earthiness, some of that burnt bacon aroma that is so great ... but grassy hops. Taste brings bitter citrus fruit, pine, a lovely sweet caramel malt back. Finishes very long and bitter, and more bitter. This was one of the beers that taught me to enjoy beer, and I am easily reminded of why.

16 oz can - Floral hops aroma smacks you in the face. Hazy brown in color. Obviously a lot of malt to go along with the massive hops. Tastes quite bitter with a superb hops and malt blend. Not too much of either, or too much of both, which is just as good. This is a very interesting beer. I would have more.

So this was silly, a malt forward floral IPA that rocked. The malt FLAVOR was enhanced without the sweetness. Even tasted a little rye. tons of bitterness, unique take on the style.

Canned 15SEP11 A: Rusty orange with a finger of tan foam which falls quickly to a partial sheet of the same. Excellent clarity. Spotty lace. (4) S: Resin, grapefruit, sage touches over a slightly sweet malt backbone accentuated with honey notes and the faintest copper fumes. Really nice nose here (4.5) T: Earthy hops up front, a hint of catty dissonance between the sweeter malts and resiny oils. Doesn’t taste as good as it smells, but it is a mighty fine beer. Getting some bubblegum later as it warms. (4) M: Prickly up front with the body to tame it. Really a great feeling beer with a good oily residue on the finish. (4.5) O: Really a great beer. It’s a month out, and some would call that "stale", but this beer is still lively and quite well constructed. I would imagine some more of the nuances from the hops would be better enumerated in a fresher can, but alas I am not in the distro for this beer. (4.5)

Can poured into a snifter. Pours a clear auburn color with off white head. Lots of pine hop aromas. Hops apparent at first with sweet carmel malt as a backbone. My only complaint is the mouthfeel is not as heavy as I’d like.

16 fl. oz. can from arminjewell! Pours out hazy, deep golden/amber colour. Off white head with a rocky top and nice clingy foam. Big hoppy nose stands out, piney and resiny. Some sweet caramel malt beneath. Flavour has a malty base with a caramel presence, big hop flavours of spicy pine. Dry finish. Grapefruity and resiny pine aftertaste really coats the throat, and also the tounge. A bit of malt sweetness also is there. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel, carbonation works nicely, not too sharp. Nice aggressive flavour profile, hop forward, but still retains excellent drinkability. Would drink this all day.
