COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

The first beer in a can I’ve been excited about since I was 18. Thanks to cvaypai for sending one my way. A: Clear amber color with a good sized white head. S: Very floral and piney. T: Malty and caramelly--somewhat sweeter than I’m used to with an IPA, but a good bitter piney finish M: Very nice level of carbonation, medium body. D: Quite drinkable. I’d definitely have this again.

Had from a pint can into a glass during a homebrew party. Very nice IPA that is helping prove that cans work!

On tap at the Bavarian Lodge in Lisle, IL a few months back. A: Slightly-hazy darkish orange with a good head and some lacing. S: Citrus and pine hops with a good sweet malt underbelly. T: Good caramel sweet malt underneath with some sweet fruits mixed in. On top of that are some clear citrus and pine hops. M: Medium body with good carbonation and not too much alcohol in the flavor. D: Exceptional. Probably the best American IPA that I have ever had. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 05-01-2009

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2007 GTMW 2007. This was a cask conditioned, tea bagged (dry hopped) version. Poured a clear dark orange color with a soapy off white head. Aroma was of malty caramel and sprucy hops. Medium bodied with moderate to assertive hop bitterness. Flavors included malty cereal grain, toffee, and citrusy hop. Hops, hops, and more hops. Solid. Re-rate. Growler shared by iowaherkeye. Thanks for hauling this back form Minnesota Joey. Poured a slightly hazy orange-red color. Head was two fingers high and off white with decent retention. Some lace was left behind. The aroma was distinctly of grapefruit, but also a bit sweaty. There was assertive hop bitterness of about 8 out of 10 that lingered well after the finish. The flavor was similar to the aroma, lots of grapefruit, but there was also an ample malty caramel background. This is a good beer.

16 ounce can thanks to Levi. Pours a dark amber hue with a large white head and lots of lacing. The aroma is great; rich caramel, malts, and ton of spicy fruity hops. The flavor is just great; rich spicy bitter hops, very fresh tasting with a bitter pine finish on your palate. Lots of caramel and malt flavors as well. Smooth and easygoing, but a flavor explosion. Among my favorite IPAs ever. Awesome.

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2011 Tried again from the can. Big pine, resin, wood, light caramel and flowers. Excellent and very well put-together. Also beautiful. Can on RBSG bus. From Guyinchicago, I think. Deep amber with a nice thin lacy head. Nice aroma, big, big fruit, dry, simcoe, nice citrus and grass. Smooth body, not a lot of carbonation. Not too much caramel either. Just a bit. Malt is understated, hops take over. Very smooth bitterness, nice citrusy grass. Great stuff. 8/4/8/3/15
