COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Can: Poured a orange with white head. Aroma is malty and hops. Taste is tongue lashing citrus and hops that mixed well with the malts.

Can sampled at BCTC 2008. Pours a clear orange amber with a bubbly white head. Aroma of pine and earth, actually very reminiscent of a christmas tree. Flavor is spot on from the aroma with lots of piney hops and earth notes with some caramel malt moving into the mix as well. This was one fantastic beer and to think that it was moving from warm to hot when I finally tried it makes me wonder how awesome it will be served cold to cool.

Hazy copper with a medium tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of Caramel, citrus and floral hops with a bit of pine. Nicely balanced flavor with some citrus and floral hops accentuated by some bready malt and caramel. Moderately bitter and abrasive but overall some pretty good stuff.

Can shared at DLD - Pours dark amber with a short white head. Good aroma of grapefruit, pine, with some caramel malts behind it. Flavor is grapefruit and pine but backed well by caramel malts. Good balance and easy to drink. This like every other surly brew I’ve tried is a winner!

Starts with a thin off-white head. Musky hop aroma. The flavor was all bitterness with the malts failing to appear for any support. Lack of depth and finish. Shag must have gotten the good part of the can?!?!

Can from GenoG. Thanks Adam! Pours an orange amber with a small white head. Huge aroma of caramel malts, and tight, earthy citrusy hops. Flavor is equally tasty with a lot more hops and a nice malt backbone to balance it. Well made ipa. Wish I could drink this everyday. Do these come in 30 packs?

Out of the can at C-Bus 7. I have to admit that this beer seems really good just because it comes out of a can, and I’ve been trained that only crappy beer comes in cans. Surly cans some great brews. Deep amber beer with a big, foamy biege head. HUGE hoppy nose with notes of apricot, peach and grapefruit. The hops continue to dominate in the flavor with grapefruit rind, pine resin, and peach. Long orange rind finish. Great hop head beer.
