COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

On tap at Durty Nellies in Palatine, IL. This marks the first time I ever went to a bar because I read on rate beer that a certain beer was on tap. I feel kind of like a beermo. The beer was awesome, though. Nice caramel malt with lots of awesome hops. Dry, bitter finish. Pretty awesome IPA.

Huge hop nose with citrus and pine aromas. Pours cloudy amber with orange tones. Very hoppy with citrus and piney flavors, its also has a very good malt background with some caramel and hints of toast.

Sampled from can with my good friend raveskdr.I normally don’t buy into the hype, but man the moment this one was poured, it was freaking awesome. Poured an orange color with a medium-small white head. Aroma was grapefruit, pine, hoppy hoppy hoppy. Bitter, pine. It was so wonderful. Alcohol is about perfect, at only 6.2%.

Pours Amber with medium white head. Huge lacing. Aroma of citrus and floral hops, grass, light sugar. Flavor is similar, with a heavier malt backbone. Lightly citric and floral. Finishes bitter and resinous.

Dark gold, strong white head, sticky lacing. Dense earthy malt backbone is apparent, though the tropical gummy aroma from the sticky hops comes through more. Probably influenced from the can. Kudos. So clean and refreshing! A strong hoppy IPA you can gulp. Crystal hops? stand out and keep everything dark and shadowy. This is how I want a beer balanced, drinkable and enjoyable with intense flavors.

Nice red-amber body with a frothy beige head. Complimentary blend of spicy hops, toast and caramel malt in the aroma. Big flavor with more toasty, sweet malt and aggressive hop flavors and bitterness. Has a note of rye-like grain. This is like a Big Red Ale and I’m a sucker for those when they’re well-made. Thanks to allendodd for another one in my cooler at BCTC.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2009 #530 for this beer. 16oz can. Dark copper with a white head. Piney aroma, some caramel notes as well. Pretty bitter, not super harsh though, it lingers slightly, but in a good way. Pretty good
