COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

16oz Can. Thanks to Stine for sending me this. Poured a deep amber body with huge head. Wonderful grapefruit aroma, hoppy beer. Flavor is sweet grapefruit, citrus hops with a nice bitterness bite to it. A nice sugary carbonation to it also. Smooth. Delicious beer. Wish I could get it in my area, I would stock up on it.

Thanks to hellomynameis for this one - what a cool beer. Darker brown (looks like a Scotch ale) with an off-white head. Aroma is a nice mix of earthy-floral hops and smoky malts - lots of peat and wood in there. Flavor is really nice - smoky, peaty, woody, sweet malts mixing with a nice herbal-earthen-floral hop blast. A wonderful cross between an IPA and a good Scotch ale. Reeeealy good. Sorry Sly Fox and Oskar Blues, but I just found my #1 favorite canned beer.

Can to snifter. Dark amber/brown color with a big fluffy head. For this style there is a good amount of hop presence. Not too malty but has a very solid balance of earthy characters.

(can, courtesy of Andrew; sampled 4/10/10). Clear dark copper color. Small off white head. Moderate citrus/pine aroma, with light earthiness. Flavor of the same, with light sweet maltiness. Long duration. Light bitter finish. Thin/slick texture. Moderate carbonation. Fair lacing.

Hazy copper pour with small off-white head. Aroma leans toward the malts — toasted grain, — but is also moderately hoppy with notes of flowers, resin and grapefruit. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter and slightly acidic. The hops are more dominant in the flavor, presenting bitterness and flowers on top of the malt sweetness. Medium body and slightly sticky texture. Fairly good balance between malts and hops.

RBSG 2010 - bus to Ypsilanti I think. Orangy colour, solid cap. Hopfest! Simcoe, pine, orange, grapefruit, floral, light herbal, caramel and candy, tropical things and more and more pine - everything a growing IPA addict requires. The flavour is pretty good but nothing out of the ordinary. Grapefruit grapefruit, pine and resin, lemon, sweet caramel, some spice. Faily well balanced and smooth. The aftertaste almost hurts. Good times! Gonna be drunk before we get to the festival.
