COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Can courtesy of kosko20.

Pours a dark red-orange, lovely peach and pineapple nose that is complex, hoppy, and not overbearing. Great malt balance, warm and chewy, even some chocolate whispers in there, playing around in SN Celebration territory. My first time with this beer; it lives up to the hype. Great stuff!

Appearance: Pours a dark orange or amber with a perfect 1 inch off white head. Aroma: Light whiffs of piney hops, a little bit of citrus, and crystal malt. Taste: Orange, lemon, pineapple, bitter piny hops, and sugar sweetness. Finishes with a nice level of bitterness. Mouthfeel: Juicy, thick. Flavors stick and linger long after the sip. Overall: Bursting with flavor. I am noticing a trend in the IPAs and IIPA’s coming out of the region. This is a very west coast like beer.

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2007 Firey, amber hued pour. Massive cascade hop aroma, like pine needles that have sat under rain for hours. Grapefruit and lemon in the flavor balance well with heavy, malty Scotch sweetness. This smacks with a flair of almond creme frosting. Finishes with a bite of spicy, crisp lemon pepper. A somewhat unusually heavy palate. Slick and dense, like a double without the ache of alcohol. Bitter, smooth hop comfort.

Can, thanks to kosko20. Reddish amber pour with some off-white head. Some biscuity malt and resiny hops, some citrus also. Flavor is the same, a little sweet but mostly citrusy and earthy hops. It is a little strange though, something in the aftertaste is real biscuity and when it mixes with the citrus hops it doesn’t taste very good.

9/28/09 notes: poured at GABF, sampled both Thursday and Saturday. Because it is delicious. Pours amber with a surprising amount of brown coloration. Head is cream white. Aroma has a strawberry-piney aroma, with a dash of citrus. Palate is a success of creamy-crisp contrast, which works well with the flavors. I got a tart-bitter blend of strawberries and pine, always flirting but never actually perceived as sweet. Finish has refreshing bitterness. I great IPA, balanced, bitter, and interesting.

16 oz can thanks to Vince. Pours a hazy copper with a small dense off white head that sticks to the sides of the glass. Aroma is pine resin, citrus and caramel. The flavor is sweet caramel malt that fades to a long bitter finish. Mouth feel is very nice, the soft carbonation makes this very smooth. Great drinkability, do these come in 12 packs??? Overall a great IPA and thanks again Vince for this bonus in our trade.

Tasted on draft at Goose Island Clybourn. Pours a clear amber orange with a laced white head. There is a very hoppy grapefruit aroma with a little bit of malt. The flavors are super hoppy grapefruit peel and juniper. The body and carbonation are medium, and the finish is long and bitter.

These canned beers have totally helped me forget the crap of the past that once dominated all. Hops up front and through and through with good balance (not all hops) to boot. Wish this were available locally so I could say, no thanks, I had it when it was cool.
