COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

These canned beers have totally helped me forget the crap of the past that once dominated all. Hops up front and through and through with good balance (not all hops) to boot. Wish this were available locally so I could say, no thanks, I had it when it was cool.

UPDATED: NOV 25, 2009 can poured an amber color with a thick foamy off white head that retained well. aroma has beautiful hop character with citrus, bitter and sweetness. has that sweet juicy fruit thing. mouth feel is medium with plenty of carbonation. flavor has more malt coming through, nice citrus, lightly bitter resins, and hefty sweetness. nicely balanced out proving strong flavors while still being easy to drink.

Red body, creamy tan head, with real nice lacing. Immediate hop node. In fact, that is all I get, hops. The taste is an aggressive hop, a bitter astringent dry hop. This is a hop bomb IMHO, but nice after shoveling the drive way for the second time, all while working lots of snow over time. Thanks to BUCKYBEER!

Valley Brew tasting Feb 2007 - Aroma is alcohol and subtle hops. Flavor is citrus hops, but not as strong as others note here. Curious of cans age since my sample seems subduded. Smooth and balanced this is a tasty IPA for sure, but I didn’t get the big hops.

At Piece in Chicago, 09.20.08. Hazy orange amber caramel, white head. Aroma is citrus hoppy: kiwi, tangerine. Flavor is crisp, nice hoppy green leaves, clean bitter finish.

Poured a nice hazy orange color into a frosty pint glass with no head. Aroma was incredibly hoppy and slightly citrusy and pulled me right in. Flavor was woody and assaults the palate with hops. One of my personal favorite IPA’s.

Can, thanks to Skyview. Pours clear deep orange/amber, thin but persistent off-white head. Great lacing. Nose is sweet malt, big spicy hops, very PNW, overtop of sweet cereal malt. Balanced, flavours are also well-balanced, citrus and pine play off sweet malt. Nice.

A superb, lean IPA ramped up for maximum bitterness and yet incredibly drinkable. For all the talk about the malts on the can, I was blown away by how supple and thin this was - in the best sense. Australian pales ales always fatten out the hop profile with lots of sticky sugars, but this is all about the hops. 99 IBUs and yet I could imagine seeing off a few of these. Would love to see something like this here in Oz. (Can courtesy of Oslo - thanks buddy - at the Milson Point park session September 09)
