RCL (964), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Apr 7, 2007 Aroma is a blast of hops, but the flavor isn’t too bitter. Just an amazing mouthfeel and look to these Surly beers. The flavors of spicy hops and pure grains practically freakin’ dance in the glass.
J_Hunter (142), British Columbia, Canada Jul 17, 2008 a great fruity hop aroma with a smooth hoppy flavor and a nice mello after taste very enjoyalbe wish i had more then two of them. redlem (1094), Illinois, USA Jul 16, 2008 ON tap. Upon the first couple of sips I thought this is one great beer, lots of fruit in aroma and taste with a nice biscuit backbone. But after 3 sips the fruit all but disappears and this turns into a fairly standard tasting IPA with above average bitterness on finish. Had me at the start but lost me in the end. dm9831 (530), Monee, Illinois, USA Jul 13, 2008 pours deep ruby with little tan bubbles floating on top. nose is fruity, grapefruity-hoppy, sweet in the background. flavor is creamy and hoppy. medium bodied, slightly bitter, dry finish. another enjoyable entry from surly brewing. AllAboutStout (402), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 12, 2008 Pours a very dark amber, brown in color with a huge, frothy, off-white head. For an IPA this has a very intense, piney hop flavor! Very nice. Taste is huge hop flavor. There’s no way this is only an IPA. This is better than most DIPA’s that I’ve had. Huge, and creamy on the mouthfeel. I don’t know what else to say, other than this is easily one of the best IPA’s I’ve ever had. I’ve been wanting some Surly beers to see for myself what the hype is about. This one exceeds my expectations. Very well done! thickfreakness (7), Austin, Texas, USA does not count Jul 9, 2008 Pours hazy, dark amber with a frothy beige head that fades fast. The nose is a nice balance of caramel malt and really piney hops. Taste is tons of piney hops up front balanced by a really nice caramel malt sweetness and a pleasantly bitter finish. Smooth body and light carbonation. Great IPA.
