COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Tap at Highway Mike’s: Pours a deep amber/copper color with a large beige head and light lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, very floral with citrus, grapefruit and caramel. Flavor is grapefruit, floral, orange, some caramel and a bit resiny. Very nice hop bite. Medium bodied, creamy texture. Finshes as hoppy as it starts, great American IPA.

Out of the can at C-Bus 7. I have to admit that this beer seems really good just because it comes out of a can, and I’ve been trained that only crappy beer comes in cans. Surly cans some great brews. Deep amber beer with a big, foamy biege head. HUGE hoppy nose with notes of apricot, peach and grapefruit. The hops continue to dominate in the flavor with grapefruit rind, pine resin, and peach. Long orange rind finish. Great hop head beer.

Cloudy orange, with a nice loos foamy white head. Bitter and sweet are nicely blended throughout, with Piney, woodsy hop note playing off caramel malt notes. Really, really good. Thanks to Buckybeer for the trade!

Poured an amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, citrus, grapefruits, floral hops, caramel, and light toast. Taste of citrus, pine, sticky caramel resin, and grapefruit, with a dry, hoppy, light alcohol finish.

I tried beer at the Craft Brewers Conference in Austin. This was after having a few other beers that had some hops to them. This beer stood out from them all. 16 oz. Can. The beer pours hazy amber pine, citrus, and caramel. When you taste it there is a big hop bite at first that is followed by swirls of pine, orange, and sweet caramel malt flavors. Very nicely done beer. They named it well.

Tap @ Cafe 28. Very comparable to Bell’s Two Hearted. Hops of a IIPA w/o the malt profile.

(beer tasting @ Monty’s Krown - Rochester, NY: can - 500 ml) Copper color with a thin white head. Heavy and peppery hop aroma at the start with some light citrus and caramel underneath. Big and juicy hoppy flavor at the start with a lovely grapefruit and citrus counterbalance. Finishes sweet and hoppy with a very light and dry aftertaste.

draft at clark street alehouse. this was a breath of fresh air last night. the only good beer in a sea of... i dont know, something. anyways. orange/copper color with a nice off white head. intense aroma of grapefruit and citrus hops. taste is decently balanced, pretty damned bitter back end. no doubt it’s an IPA, and a massively hoppy one at that. why it was $6 for a snifter i don’t know. i’m pretty much just rating it so i don’t have zero ratings for february 2008
