COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Tasted from can (thanks Josh!). Poured a dark and cloudy orange / amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of pine, citrus, and some caramel. Tastes of pine, light citrus and caramel. I like the hoppiness in this one. It also had a lighter sweet balance to the bitterness.

Pours a dark orange/amber with a light brown head. Aroma is fantastic with grapefruit and floral hops. I detect some pine in there as well. Watching game 2 of the college world series finals while drinking this. South Carolina vs. UCLA with USC up 1-0 in the series. I write this because the beer is good enough that I want to note where I was and what I was doing when I had it for the first time. I believe you experience beer, and this is all part of it. Up in Minneapolis on business. Deliciously hopped with good grapefruit flavor. I also get what seems to be a mix of lemon, orange, and grapefruit citrus rinds as if the skins were grated into the batch. The hops really showcase the beer, but are not overpowering so the flavors really shine through. Definitely has a floral/pine flavor in the background. The body is well balanced, and the beer goes down very smooth. All around strong beer.

16 oz. can via trade with mreusch - Pours a slightly hazy deep amber color with a one finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is big pine and citrus hops and light malt in the background. Flavor is big hops (citrus and pine) and with some sweet floral fruitiness to it. Quite bitter, but goes down quite easy. Slight lingering hop aftertaste. Medium body. A very good beer. Thanks Matt.

Tap at State and Lake. Deep amber pour with a creamy off-white head. Big dank hoppy aroma. Pine and a lot of fresh hoppy resin. There is a little bit of toasted malt and a kiss of citrus as well. A little bit of orange peel. As it warms the malts take on a lightly sweet caramelly character. Even a kiss of cookie dough as well. Quite a pronounced dank resiny bitterness, but it still has a solid balance throughout. Pretty damn tasty.

Can Pours a deep redish amber with a light tan head. Big woody bitter aroma. Flavor was very bitter and a bit of sour fruit at the end. Big long late IBU bite.

Draft at Sheffield’s in Chicago. I’ve waited a long time for this beer and I was not disappointed. A malty, citrusy, balanced ipa with hops from beginning to end. Extremely fresh! A fantastic ipa.

Can from 2007. Trade with Piscator34. Thanks!! Pours a nice off orange with a thin head. Plenty of hop aromas. Some pine and citrus. Lots of hop flavor. Plenty of pine, citrus and floral notes. This will hop your face off. Fairly well balanced, too bad I had it canned i could taste a metallic bit on the background.
