COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

At a tasting, thanks David, stable lasting off white head, clear copper colour, aroma of mandarine and flowery hops, strong hoppy bitter with flavours of orange blossoms, and a light touch of malt in the back, strong but feels a little diluted, short aftertaste

Acquired in a trade and very excited to try this. Poured into a Newcastle glass right out of the fridge. A - Poured a light tan head of about 1.5 fingers. The beer itself is a deep amber / wood color. S - Tons of pine from the amazing hops used in this beer. I get roasted notes and some salty bits as well. Lots of sweet going on here. T - Beyond the hops, I’m getting grape juice and apple juice. There’s some sweetness here as well. Also some spices but I can’t pinpoint. Maybe cinnamon? M - Lots of carbonation but the beer still retains the liquid properties even after heavy swishing. O - Delicious. I love canned beers and a canned IPA in pint size just makes my day. Excellent!

Pours dark amber for an IPA for an IPA with tons of sediment - I am assuming hop resinsl The aroma bring pleasant notes of sweet and bitter hops lighter but pleasing and noticeable on the palate, not aggressive or abrasive like the Abrasive because of a malty base. The flavor of malts is a basis begins with light bitter hop notes that bring zesty citrus notes to the palate. The settle slowly on the palate with lemon zesty notes.

Poured an amber red hue with moderate head that left lacing as it slowly faded. Smells like I opened a vacuum sealed bag of hops; mostly citrus with a bit of pine. As much as the malt is touted in the description, the star of the show is bitter citrusy hops (obviously). It is very light on the palate for the IBU.

27 jan 2012, can. Rosey amber, clear, no bubbles. Aroma is a grassy hopped Scottish ale (American style). Med body and a bit fizzy. Decent ale. Moderately hopped for a Scottish ale, but. It excessive. Nice and malty w enough hops to make it fun. Not a Scottish ale though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can to snifter. Dark amber/brown color with a big fluffy head. For this style there is a good amount of hop presence. Not too malty but has a very solid balance of earthy characters.

Copper with tall white head. Aroma dominated by grapefruity hops. Taste is again dominated by grapefruity hops. Strong malt backbone balances this well. Although the hops are forefront, the bitterness fades to a bisquity, toasty malt. Rather creamy. Easy drinking and even though it’s over 6% ABV and has a rather full body, it has a nice refreshing character. Easily one of the best beers I’ve had.

Pours dark amber with average head that persisted. Toasted malts with heavy pine and grapefruit hops. Light bodied with average carbonation. Moderate acidity with heavy bitterness that lingered throughout the long finish. Delicious!

Can. Pours amber with quarter inch white head. Aroma is fresh grapefruit. Flavor is caramel and grapefruit. Very nice IPA (though it should probably be classified as an imperial amber ale).
