4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Damn you surly, why do you put you stuff in a can. I wish i could mistake this for a macro swill and chug it for the price of those. Cracked the can, and an abundance of hops jumped straight out at me. About perfect temp at 56 degrees in my basement. Nice full head with a great aroma. Wonderful balance to it, the malt balances the hops, but they still make their way straight to the forefront of the flavor. I was worried for a second after reading the can it would have to much malt like some IPA’s tend to have. Very drinkable at 6.2%, youll never know it. Since the hops aren’t crazy high, you can drink without taking a breather from an insane amount like Two Hearted (which i love), but makes this a great beer in its own right. Permanent want list.

Can pour. Deep reddish orange with off white head. Aromas of citrus grass and whiskey. Drinks with a huge sweet malt that kicks the mouth with a burst of bitter pineapple and melon.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Fresh, this is one of the best IPAs I’ve had. Citrus and a little pine on the nose, with the same on the palate. On the finish, there is a noticeable floral note, but good. Overall, a well done example of the style.

My first time drinking Surly. Furious is smooth, not tropical or citrus-like but more of a dank, earthy IPA I suppose. Really well balanced.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Jerry’s, Chicago. Appearance is golden peach. Aroma is hops. Taste is the same with hops and some sweet resin; nice balance here. Definitely lacks a big fruity quality but what it does have it does well. Overall, good IPA.

Dark golden semi cloudy body. One inch creamy head. Very hoppy wonderful aroma. Holy bitterness. I’ve had beers more than 100 IBUs, but this seems so much more bitter. Very tasty. Great lemony flavors. Finally found a Surly beer and really enjoy it. Can’t wait to try my Abrasive soon.

Bottle share @ Surly Darkness Day 2013. Pour is clear copper with a finger-wide white head. Aroma and flavor of pine needles, sweet caramel, tropical fruit, and light citrus. Finish is a bit malty for an IPA, with a bitter aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bon produit.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can. Pours a cloudy orange with medium frothy off white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is pine, floral, and herbs. Medium mouthfeel with dry hop, pine, and bitter finish. Good.
