Served on cask at RBSG 2011. Pours a hazy straw color with a large creamy, frothy offwhite head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of big wood notes, earthy notes and pepper. The taste is bitter hops, caramel and wood. Medium bodied.

On tap at Stub and Herbs. Cask CONDITIONED and dry hopped with Slovenian Celeia, the first of its kind according to head brewer Todd. Smelled of typical cynic, and the taste was amazingly smooth with nice fruity esters with a slight bittering effect of the hops. A great way to have this beer!

8/11/12. GTMW - on cask. Hazy golden pour with a ring of small off-white head. The aroma shows spicy yeast and fruity esters with some citrus, pepper, and just a touch of oaky woodiness. Slightly sweet bready entry with fruitiness, citrus, followed by a dry spiciness and more yeast presence and just a hint of that oak. Not bad.

On tap. Poured clear-ish lighter golden with a short cap of white head. The aroma picked up sweeter toasty caramel and toffee with a very nice yeast character (white pepper and apricot esters).. warmth brought out a rich newer oak impression.. nice. The flavor opened with toasty oak and medium-skinned fruits (apricot leading).. cool hop character (citrus, pine, and earthy notes all played in here) followed.. paler malts in the background.. finished with more bitterness and more oak. Quite dry on the palate with scratchy oak and citrus bitterness sticking on the finish.. nice use of the oakage.

On cask at the Great Taste of the Midwest (8/9/08): Pours a hazy copper bronze with a thin, airy coating of white head. Lightly noble hoppy citrusy nose has some mild pale German malty sweetness. Starts with good fullness and authenticity with a good subtle oaky complexity. Very drinkable and well-balanced.

Cask on tap at Great Taste of the Midwest 2011 (Madison, WI). Pours a murky yellowish straw hue, dry and murky. A big frothy eggshellwhite head cakes and laces ok. Aromas are touches of yeast, dry spice, wet oak and bread dough. Some touches of apple, lemon, and pear. Initial is lighter bodied and fruity, apples and pears, touches of wet wood, dry florals and grass. Some touches of spice, white pepper. Backend throws mellow sweeter breads, straw, grass, a touch of vanilla. Nice deeper bitterness. Solid, the oak is lighter, the hops are earthy and floral with lingering sweet bread dough and fruity esters.
