COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s been said; "It’s easier to brew an extremely hoppy beer than an extremely balanced beer." And you know us, we are always looking for the easy way out, so we jumped on the West Coast IPA bandwagon and brewed this dry and hoppy ale. "Surly’s a little bit of a one-trick pony, they just brew gimmick beers," and maybe we are OVERRATED, but at the end of the day, it’s just a beer. If you like it, great, so do we. If you only liked us when we were small, then leave this one on the shelf. Let one of the fanboys grab it.

Can from CT Ave Liquor, shared @ Bruce’s. The pour’s light amber with a small head. The nose is light toffee, marmalade-slathered toasted brown bread. The taste is cantaloupe and light citrus. Pine cone. Toffee base. Lightly bitter on the finish. Medium body, mild carbonation. A nicely dialed-in IPA. Good.

Bottle:   Bright fiery straw, moderate frothy white head, nice lacing.   Pale citrusy nose, not too bright.   Smells more of a Pale in its subtleness.   Clean citrusy hoppy start, smooth, not overly bitter.   For a "West Coast" style IPA, its not biting nor bitter.   Slight pixie stix like sweetness.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Sweet pith and peel linger.   Comes across as more of a NW Pale instead of IPA, well maybe 3/4 IPA.   Good, clean, but could actually stand to be a bit more... "hoppy".   Thanks Bob!

Pours yellowish amber, hazy, with medium white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, passion fruit and apricot. Taste is bitter with a fruity sweet kick towards the end, followed by a lingering bitter finish. Body is light and fresh with soft carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a semi-clear light amber with a decent frothy white head. Aroma is fresh hops, grass, peach, esters, lime, honey. Taste is peach, esters, honey, dew grass, lime, grapefruit. Quite a decent west coast IPA!

03-NOV-2013, can @home, from Mikkeller & Friends. Hazy golden with lasting white head. Extremely hoppy aroma with loads og fruit. Grape fruit, pine and exotic fruits. Taste the same with even more exotic fruit and also a touch of caramel. Fine West Coast IPA.

Type: 16-oz. can Glass: Manzanita pint glass From: My cousin Sam Price: N/A Purchased: Received it on Nov. 4, 2013 Consumed: Nov. 11, 2013 Misc.: Canned on Sept. 5, 2013 Poured a honey orange hazy color with two fingers of khaki cream head. Excellent lacing along the sides of the glass. Also excellent retention on the top all the way down. Smelled a plethora of hops right away. Got sweet floral hops, citrus hops (tangerine, orange, orange peel and some grapefruit), fruity hops, tropical hops and some caramel malts. Smells good, but not overbearing. End of it reminded me a bit of an orange creamsicle. Tasted pretty close to the smell, not quite what I was expecting from either though. Fruity notes, floral hops and citrus hops dominate. Lots of orange peel and tangerine, and some grapefruit. Very bitter finish. ABV reads 7.30 percent and that seems about right. Light-to-medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. A very nice beer from one of the best in the business. A lot different than the West Coast IPA’s, but still pleasant.

16 oz. can. Pours an orangish amber with a thick frothy white head that dies down to a thin film in a few minutes. Bright, strong, hoppy, lots of orange peel, tangerine, and pine. Some resin. Some floral notes as well. Mild malt presence in the nose, mostly cold dough, fresh bread, and cookie dough malts. Taste is quite bitter. Lots of delicious, piney and citrus hops. Fresh, some florals. Medium bodied, nice carbonation. Finishes long and bitter. Fantastic.

Pours a golden hazy with a little particular with 1 finger creamy head leaving heavy lacing. Aroma of pineapple, grapfruit and a bit of pine hop with toasted malt. Moderately bitter throuhgout. Dry. Not sweet at all. Long hoppy, bitter ifnish. Medium to full bodied. This is a great hoppy/bitter beer for a hop head to indulge in.

Canned sample via oakbluff. Gold in colour with fairly strong carbonation. Simple but effective aromas of white grapefruit, clean pale malt, and lime rind. I get more of a lime juice quality in the mouth, backed by more pale malt and various savory herbs. Medium bodied with a solid bitterness. Nothing over the top, but quite enjoyable.

Can. Orange pour with white head. Slight citrus and grassy herbal hop aromas. Flavors are slightly more malt heavy than I would have liked, so yes a bit overrated.
