COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s been said; "It’s easier to brew an extremely hoppy beer than an extremely balanced beer." And you know us, we are always looking for the easy way out, so we jumped on the West Coast IPA bandwagon and brewed this dry and hoppy ale. "Surly’s a little bit of a one-trick pony, they just brew gimmick beers," and maybe we are OVERRATED, but at the end of the day, it’s just a beer. If you like it, great, so do we. If you only liked us when we were small, then leave this one on the shelf. Let one of the fanboys grab it.

03-NOV-2013, can @home, from Mikkeller & Friends. Hazy golden with lasting white head. Extremely hoppy aroma with loads og fruit. Grape fruit, pine and exotic fruits. Taste the same with even more exotic fruit and also a touch of caramel. Fine West Coast IPA.

Pours a semi-clear light amber with a decent frothy white head. Aroma is fresh hops, grass, peach, esters, lime, honey. Taste is peach, esters, honey, dew grass, lime, grapefruit. Quite a decent west coast IPA!

Can. Orange pour with white head. Slight citrus and grassy herbal hop aromas. Flavors are slightly more malt heavy than I would have liked, so yes a bit overrated.

Pours a hazy golden orange with a medium creamy white lacing head. Aroma of fresh American hops. Lots of orange zest, tropical fruits and floral character. Flavor of fresh American hops. Touch of biscuity malt. Smooth bitterness. Floral, citrusy and piney! Not quite Topper but might be as close as you can get from another canned IPA.

Can shared by KBL. Nice golden, big fruity hop nose, lots of tropical elements, citrus, pine. Just the right sweetness, with full biscuity body and great hops. Excellent stuff.

Dåse: Orange uklar øl med et fint skumhoved. Duften er malt og en smule gammel humle, kan godt smage den ikke er helt frisk. Men stadig er smagen overordentlig frisk med masser af humlebid. Citrus er den dominerende karakteristika. Ville gerne have smagt denne øl helt frisk.

Can picked up at Mikkeller & Friends for 75DKK shared with KyotoLefty. A lovely clear copper color, a great hoppy fruity herbal aroma. The taste is clear bitter hoppiness with a good dankness. Very nice.

Aroma is grassy. Flavors are grassy, pine and herbal
Decent, but not really hoppy. Yep, the name overrated, this is good but it’s no west coast IPA.

Sampled at GABF 2013. Golden orange appearance with a white head. Citrus hop, grapefruit, pine, light caramel malt. Medium plus bitterness and light sweetness. Dry, bitter finish.

16 oz can poured into a pint glass. Light copper color and incredible lacing pair to make this one of Surly’s best looking beers. Tastes hits you with hops as expected. It’s a Surly after all. Definitely presents a full mouthfeel that lingers. In the end, slightly one dimensional which prevents it from scoring higher.
