4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Rated from a pint can. It poured a clear golden/orange with abundant effervescence, a frothy off white head, and quite a bit of lacing. Hoppy citrus aroma (lemon & grapefruit). Biting hop taste with a bitter finish on the tongue. A solid, enjoyable, west cost style IPA. Has become part of my main rotation now that it is available in Chicago.

4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Really hoppy and smooth ipa. It is just the opposite of its name, it is under rated. Nice and citruscy and smells hoppy. Had this one at home

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Can from kbutler1 in a trade. Thanks Kevin! Pours an almost clear dark orange with a half finger of white head. Aroma of citrus and tropical fruits with a hint of pine. Taste is heavily bitter. Pine at first then loads of grapefruit. Hop-heavy but still very balanced. Medium bodied with a surprisingly creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, great. I’ve had some good and some not so good from surly, but I would definitely put this in the winner column.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance: Pours a clear royal yellow gold with a decent off-white head that subsides to a 1-4 inch.
Appearance: A decent mixture of pine and citrus hop scent. Some rock sugar sweetness.
Taste: Fresh hop fruitiness first. Simcoe/citra perhaps. Orange, honey dew, pineapple. some peppery bitterness. Dry malt. Bitterness catches up after the sip.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Juicy. Slightly rough carbonation.
Overall: I like it! Delivers the goods as well as Furious and Abrasive does. I would say it’s pretty balanced for the “style.” Would you agree?

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can. Pours a hazy, golden orange, medium white head, okay retention and lacing. Nose is dank and resinous, tropical fruit (mango, guava, citrus) and some pine. Mouth is medium bodied, dry with a pleasantly understated hoppy bitterness that kinda creeps upon you, grapefruit, guava, lemongrass, citrus peel zest. Not much balance, but who cares? I don’t WC-styled IPAs to taste malt. Surly delivers again. Happy New Year 2014!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on a snowy Saturday pre-holiday party afternoon. Appearance is a lightly cloudy bright gold with a very pronounced white lightly bubbly head. Aroma is a mixture of citrus and cone hops. Taste finishes nice and dry with grassy notes, light spice, lemon, floral. It’s well balanced and pretty good, nothing groundbreaking, just a solid IPA. Well done!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Dark Lord Day 2013, served in a tasting glass. Pours hazy amber with a large, frothy white head that remains and laces well. The nose has big pine and flowers, along with resin and caramel with a hint of subtle spice. The flavour is medium-bitter with notes of spice, pepper, pine, flowers and some tropical fruit. This is balanced with a medium caramel-honey sweetness. The finish is long and hoppy with peppery notes and flowers. On the palate it is medium-full in body with a creamy texture and average carbonation. Overall, this is a very nice IPA with good balance. The nose is nice and hoppy but malts are not neglected. 2013-04-27
