Itís been said; "Itís easier to brew an extremely hoppy beer than an extremely balanced beer." And you know us, we are always looking for the easy way out, so we jumped on the West Coast IPA bandwagon and brewed this dry and hoppy ale. "Surlyís a little bit of a one-trick pony, they just brew gimmick beers," and maybe we are OVERRATED, but at the end of the day, itís just a beer. If you like it, great, so do we. If you only liked us when we were small, then leave this one on the shelf. Let one of the fanboys grab it.

Tallboy can, thanks John. Pours golden with a little head. Citrus orange hop aroma, and that is the taste that delivers. Superior IPA and very drinkable. Smooth and satisfying.

Gold pour, massive head, lots of lace here. Citrus and pine is the name of the game here. Taste of Citrus fruit and pine, but a surprising amount of caramel malt to balance it out. Medium body. Surprisingly subdued considering what they brewery usually does. This is probably a more approachable beer than Furious or Abrasive, albiet a bit less adventerous.

Crisp, hoppy, well balanced. Minimal hoppy bite & bitterness. Seems like a great beer for a hot day. Cans = awesome.

Can with bill, a couple weeks old. Fitting name for this ipa. Pours clearish golden with light head, not much lace. Aromas of bland hops, sweet malt, maybe toasted, vanilla, pine, and booze. Ill stick with the surly which is much better but still lacking. Spoiled from my last vermont trips.

Pint can in a tulip. Pours amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of citrusy, fruity hops plus a nice pale/caramel maltiness. Flavor the same with a nice hoppy, fruity finish. Average texture. A good IPA, but having this right after Furious, it canít compare.

16 oz can, via Florida thanks to Homer321! Pours hazy golden amber with a huge off-white head that dissipates slowly with nice lacing in its wake. Aroma is citrus, pine, not strong. Flavor is about the same, light sweet and medium bitter. Medium body and a very oily mouthfeel.

Not a big fan of malty beers but this one is another solid beer from Surly. Not my favorite of their beers but itís still good. Itís too bad they couldnít use the rainbow and unicorn on the can.

16oz can pours a clear orange with some lacing, white head. Aroma is nice, floral, citrus, lemon, pine, soap but not too pungent. Flavor is the same with some malty sweetness rounding out the harsher edges. A very good IPA, but far from transcendent.

Can. Clear golden color, nice head retention, moderate lacing. Bright citrusy hop aroma, fragrant. Excellent bitter flavor, a bit fruity, with a faintly detectable grain malt character toward the end. Another great beer from surly.
