Itís been said; "Itís easier to brew an extremely hoppy beer than an extremely balanced beer." And you know us, we are always looking for the easy way out, so we jumped on the West Coast IPA bandwagon and brewed this dry and hoppy ale. "Surlyís a little bit of a one-trick pony, they just brew gimmick beers," and maybe we are OVERRATED, but at the end of the day, itís just a beer. If you like it, great, so do we. If you only liked us when we were small, then leave this one on the shelf. Let one of the fanboys grab it.

Can. Hazy light golden orange with a thin white head. Floral and dry lemony hops with a doughy crackery maltiness in the aroma. Nicely dry, but restrained hoppiness, bit earthy, citrusy and slight touch of herbalness. Lighter to medium body. Solid.

16oz can, Thanks KHoff, Is it overrated? nope, its a darn good IPA.. a bit too bubble for me, and the smell is not the citra/mosaic tropical fruit its more of the bitter piney flavor that has fallen back in the IPA world, well done Surly.

Poured from a can, thanks chase! Pours clear yellow with nice head and small lacing. Aroma is light pine and floral hops.. Taste is crisp with a nice sticky hop bitter kick, but there is balance, nice one.

On tap at DLD 2013. Orange / amber color. Big thick off-white head, good retention. Leaves plenty of thick, even lace. Smooth, lighter carbonation, dry texture. Medium to bigger body. Moderate bitter taste, minimal sweet. Some orange-creme soda, biscuity malt, light grapefruit, some citrus peel zest, tree bark. Light resin. Solid, tasty IPA. Nice and smooth.

Draft to pint at Dark Lord Day (thanks DrSilverworm). Looks good; a fairly transparent orange with foamy off-white head and lively carbonation. Smells solid; a nice balance between the hops and malt. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. A good example of the style.

Big oleí can. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A nice lemon and biscuit nose. Smooth flavor of oranges, some lemon, caramel, bitter throughout but mildly so. Pretty clean and flavorful. Overall, this is a solid IIPA. Itís a bit mellow overall. Very green and grassy. Good.
