It’s been said; "It’s easier to brew an extremely hoppy beer than an extremely balanced beer." And you know us, we are always looking for the easy way out, so we jumped on the West Coast IPA bandwagon and brewed this dry and hoppy ale. "Surly’s a little bit of a one-trick pony, they just brew gimmick beers," and maybe we are OVERRATED, but at the end of the day, it’s just a beer. If you like it, great, so do we. If you only liked us when we were small, then leave this one on the shelf. Let one of the fanboys grab it.

Can. Shared by O’s, thanks! Golden with a medium white head and some lacing. Aroma is of pine and citrus, but there’s also a lot of malt/caramel, too much for a West Coast Style IPA. Taste is about the same aroma and with the same problem of malt/caramel being too present. Medium body. Slightly dry. From what I’ve been told, the can was fresh so there’s no reason for such a malt presence. This beer is good, but might be overrated...

Pours a hazy blond with white head and little lacing. Aroma light citrusy hops, light pine. Taste has grainy malts, hops, pine. Low body and medium carb.

Pours a clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma is a lot of piney, floral hops with some malt. Flavor is firstly pine resin with floral hoppy notes and some caramel malt. Medium body with medium carbonation and a bitter finish. Very good IPA.

Can shared in GTMW line - Pours clear golden with a bit of bubbly white head. Nose is fruity and citrusy, with a dank onion hope note and a clean malt base. Taste is the same, pretty herbal, clean malt, and a lot of dank hops. Thin and soft in the mouth with bubbly carbonation. Not as pungent as I had hoped and fairly mediocre for a Surly product.

Tallboy can, thanks John. Pours golden with a little head. Citrus orange hop aroma, and that is the taste that delivers. Superior IPA and very drinkable. Smooth and satisfying.

Gold pour, massive head, lots of lace here. Citrus and pine is the name of the game here. Taste of Citrus fruit and pine, but a surprising amount of caramel malt to balance it out. Medium body. Surprisingly subdued considering what they brewery usually does. This is probably a more approachable beer than Furious or Abrasive, albiet a bit less adventerous.

Crisp, hoppy, well balanced. Minimal hoppy bite & bitterness. Seems like a great beer for a hot day. Cans = awesome.

Can with bill, a couple weeks old. Fitting name for this ipa. Pours clearish golden with light head, not much lace. Aromas of bland hops, sweet malt, maybe toasted, vanilla, pine, and booze. Ill stick with the surly which is much better but still lacking. Spoiled from my last vermont trips.
