It’s been said; "It’s easier to brew an extremely hoppy beer than an extremely balanced beer." And you know us, we are always looking for the easy way out, so we jumped on the West Coast IPA bandwagon and brewed this dry and hoppy ale. "Surly’s a little bit of a one-trick pony, they just brew gimmick beers," and maybe we are OVERRATED, but at the end of the day, it’s just a beer. If you like it, great, so do we. If you only liked us when we were small, then leave this one on the shelf. Let one of the fanboys grab it.

From a can, kindly gifted by Rian (Thirstybird) after his recent trip home across the pond. Slightly Hazy gold with lively but smooth carbonation. Nose is juicy US hops, pine and peach. Medium body, hiding the strength well. Flavour is full on multi US hoppage without much balancing malt, but works well nonetheless. Stunningly fresh and easy to drink. Very few ’new wave’ Brit beers can ever match this fresh drinkability at this sort of strength. Cheers Rian!

Pours a darker gold to orange with a decent sized cream-colored head that settles leaving chunky splotches of lace. Nose involves apricot, pine, bubblegum, mint, toasted malt, pineapple, and dankness. Decently sweet, quite bitter. Medium bodied, active, pretty oily, with a drying leafy finish. Quite tasty, happy to have tried.

16 Fl. Oz. Can. Poured orange, clear, nice white head and lots of lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and other citrus fruits, certainly some hops and even some malts. Taste starts sweet and malty but is very well balanced with some hoppy notes, a little on the light side but overall solid. Very good, very enjoyable.

From tall boy, pours a hay light honey color with a light tan head. The smell is toasted malt, honey, grapefruit, mango. The taste is big citrus, bitter grapefruit really coates the tongue and lasts and lasts. The body is light+ with a tick above average carbonation as to level and bubble courseness. Overall, unbalanced and tasty.

16 oz. can from Rays Wine and Spirits, Wauwatosa, WI (canned August 11, 2015). Dark orange pour with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of tangerine, grapefruit, and fresh pine. Taste is very hop-forward with pine needles, grapefruit rind, and lemon zest at the forefront. A sturdy malt backbone keeps this from becoming too bitter. A nicely done IPA.

Hazy orange color out of the can with a sticky white head. Big nose of hop resin and citrus. Lots of caramel sweetness and bread dough with a ton of candied grapefruit, pine, hop resin and marmalade on toast. Tasty if now standard big juicy hop beer.
