It’s been said; "It’s easier to brew an extremely hoppy beer than an extremely balanced beer." And you know us, we are always looking for the easy way out, so we jumped on the West Coast IPA bandwagon and brewed this dry and hoppy ale. "Surly’s a little bit of a one-trick pony, they just brew gimmick beers," and maybe we are OVERRATED, but at the end of the day, it’s just a beer. If you like it, great, so do we. If you only liked us when we were small, then leave this one on the shelf. Let one of the fanboys grab it.

Poured from a tallboy. Cloudy orange with an off white head. Some floating particles. Nose is citrus and pine, sticky sweet. Taste is similar with a strong bitter finish. Body is pretty full and mouth is well carbonated. Just as expected for an overrated ipa!

From can, courtesy of Mike. Very nice floral hop aroma, piney, grassy, sharp. Light tropical fruit. Medium orange-amber clear with haze, topped with rocky-foamy white lacing head. Medium-heavy body with medium carbonation. Starts moderately dry with light malt sweetness and huge hop flavors throughout, piney resin, light tropical fruit, and ozone. Big bitter finish, not harsh, with lingering bitter after and light sugar sweetness.

Can 50cl, via trade, thanks Bacterial.

Just a great IPA from Surly. Everyone is all about the Surly Furious and for good reason. However, I would take this beer over Furious any time. First time I had it was on tap straight from the brewery. I was extremely happy with my selection. I don’t get it often, but it is difficult to resist when I see it on tap!

500 ml can. Pours a clear golden straw with a resilient white head. Aroma is very hoppy, citrusy and grapefruity. Flavor is fruity as hell. Tropical fruits, and some grains. Finish is highly hoppy, tons of grapefruit. Bitterness and fruitiness are very long-lasting and pleasant. Medium to thick body, soft mouthfeel, average carbonation. Most excellent.
