Tap at the brewery. Murky brown with no head. Tart grape aroma, with light honey and oak. Very malty and winey flavor. Grape forward with a slightly tart edge. Quite pinot-ish. Tannic. Tastes much like a great pinot spiked with a caramel malt laden ale.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a clear dark copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour and tart berry aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky tingly texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & tart flavor with a medium to heavy tart & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer for style.

22 Fl. Oz. Bomber. (2015) Dark reddish brown, with a small off white head, no lacing. Aroma of wine, certainly funky, and some fruit notes. Taste is tart, with a bit of sweetness from fruit and malts, some wooden notes and some hops. Very good, very enjoyable.

22oz bottle, thanks to Paul & Jamie. Shared with local raters. 2015 bottle. We were a bit confused, as we thought that this was the same beer as Surly Five. But different name, different ABV... Hazy brown red color. Ring of off-white head. Some bits of lace. Mild funk in the nose, and a hint of vinegar. Nice cherry aroma in the flavor, mild tannic oakiness, a bit acetic too. Moderate sweet taste, with a mild dry finish. Light to moderate sour. Some very nice blackberry shows up briefly. Medium-plus body. Kind of slick, lighter carbonation. Solid, nice one to try a bit of and share, but itís not without a bite, and a touch of paint thinner.
