22 Fl. Oz. Bomber. (2015) Dark reddish brown, with a small off white head, no lacing. Aroma of wine, certainly funky, and some fruit notes. Taste is tart, with a bit of sweetness from fruit and malts, some wooden notes and some hops. Very good, very enjoyable.

22oz bottle, thanks to Paul & Jamie. Shared with local raters. 2015 bottle. We were a bit confused, as we thought that this was the same beer as Surly Five. But different name, different ABV... Hazy brown red color. Ring of off-white head. Some bits of lace. Mild funk in the nose, and a hint of vinegar. Nice cherry aroma in the flavor, mild tannic oakiness, a bit acetic too. Moderate sweet taste, with a mild dry finish. Light to moderate sour. Some very nice blackberry shows up briefly. Medium-plus body. Kind of slick, lighter carbonation. Solid, nice one to try a bit of and share, but it’s not without a bite, and a touch of paint thinner.

Bottle shared by DrSilverworm pour light hazy brown copper with minimal tan head. Nose funk, cherry, red wine, light tannin. Taste tart cherry up front. Then red wine, oak, sweet malt. Cherry comes back in the finish.

Murky copper like an old penny, fuzzy off-white cap. Aroma blends balsamic, sweet cherry, oak, lemon, plum. Flavor is less bright and complex, a more muted version of the same. Tartness is nicely controlled, however. Fairly thin body, mild CO2, some oaky tannins. Not pushing any boundaries, but a very flavorful, drinkable sour.

Tap at dark horse. Light ruby cloudy with small white head. Smells tart and slightly yeast. Tart and sweet with some hop. Not quite a sour, which works for me. Pretty good balance.

2015 bottle. The beer pours a hazy reddish-mahogany color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of cherries, oak and yeast. Medium body with flavors of tart cherry, funky yeast, oak and biscuit malt. The finish is moderately sour and oaky with a tart cherry aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Pours deep amber with a very thin line of white head that disappears rather fast. Aroma; tart, red grapes, cherries, oak barrel and fresh cut wood and earth notes. Flavours; cherries, red grapes, oak, earth tones a touch of caramel with a wine characteristic finish.

Botte shared at the 10th Annual Epic & Unusual Beer Tasting, 11/29/15. Hazy red, medium fizzy tan head, good retention. Aroma of tart grape and berry, earth, mild caramel malt, hints of wood. The taste is tart berries, grapes, wood, mild caramel. Medium bodied, low carbonation, fairly clean. Nice.
