Very tasty beer - probably Surly’s best sour offering yet. Deep reddish pour with a quickly fading off-white head. Aroma is about what you would expect from a good example of the style - ripe dark fruits, wine, a little tobacco. The flavor is solid, but doesn’t quite live up the nose. The sourness in this beer is "broad" in that it hits early and lingers well into the finish, but it never quite reaches the brilliant, refreshing heights of some of the best Belgians. I could also do with a little more malt sweetness to back the sourness. Palate is spot on for the style. Overall a great beer.

Tap at the brewery. Murky brown with no head. Tart grape aroma, with light honey and oak. Very malty and winey flavor. Grape forward with a slightly tart edge. Quite pinot-ish. Tannic. Tastes much like a great pinot spiked with a caramel malt laden ale.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a clear dark copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour and tart berry aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky tingly texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & tart flavor with a medium to heavy tart & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer for style.

22 Fl. Oz. Bomber. (2015) Dark reddish brown, with a small off white head, no lacing. Aroma of wine, certainly funky, and some fruit notes. Taste is tart, with a bit of sweetness from fruit and malts, some wooden notes and some hops. Very good, very enjoyable.
