Tap at new Surly taproom. Tons of malt, some sweetness, pretty nice actually. Not great but really drinkable.

Tap from the Firkin for the Surly Tap Takeover. Reddish brown pour with a orange head. Aroma has stone fruits, chocolate, light nut. Taste is of stone fruits, sweet fruits, some nut. A light barleywine? Also a bit of wine cooler to it. Not like any other dunkel I’ve had. 13.2

Tap at New Bohemia. Bumped pint glass. No head at all. Strange. Copper color that looks quite unfiltered. Aroma is sugar and caramel. Taste has plenty of malt but doesn’t bring a lot of sweetness to the table. Little bit of burnt sugar at the end. Not a lot of balance but pretty tasty. Definitely not my favorite Surly option.

Copper amber in color... Aroma of German Munich and Vienna malts... Flavor is typical dunkel, some smoke and oak notes, lots of caramel... Mouthfeel is crisp lager... Solid, nothing super exciting ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On Draught.
Pours a reddish brown with a big fluffy off white head that leaves some lacing on the glass.

Aroma is lightly sweet, malty and woody up front. It’s lightly chocolaty, mildly fruity, and clean smelling.

The flavor is malt forward, mildly roasty, softly bitter and only lightly sweet. The beer has flavors reminiscent of chocolate, toffee, nuttiness and red apple. The oak is very mild but noticeable and well complimented to the overall flavor of the beer.

Lightly cloudy reddish brown, light white head. Smells of a light funkiness, some vanilla, earthy, musty. A little slight bitter bite upfront that slowly mellows into a pleasant sweetness. Medium light body, slightly effervescent, bit of carbonation. Very drinkable, interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
