750ml bottle from ncmussell. Thanks. Pours an opaque black-brown color with a small tan head that immediately disappears. The aroma is light with smoke, cola and earthy hops. The flavor is mellow smoke, oak, earthy hops, coffee, tar and a touch of licorice. The palate is full and smooth. The finish is long and dry. Overall: A very mellow smoked beer, much enjoyed.

22oz bottle poured into small pub glass. Pours a dark brown almost black in color with a moderate white head. Aroma of smoked malts. Medium carbonation with smooth mouthfeel. Taste of roastiness/smokiness however not overwhelming like other smoked ales, nicely balanced. Great showing by Surly

Atomic Coffee, Moorhead, MN. Jet black, roasted malt and smoked sausage aroma. Very nice carbonation level, velvety with a building bitterness. Long finish, smoke and sweet mingling with a nice alcohol burn.

Thanks to nbutler! Dark brown pour, nice tan head. Light bacon, chocolate, roasted malt, prunes and some toffee in the aroma. Flavor has some smoke, but not overly insane amount. Good chocolate and roasted malt too. Very well done beer. One of my favorite smoked beers to date.

750ml bottle to my favorite glass. Pour is a black brown with a quick tight tan head that dissipates to nothing on top. Scents of chocolate cake coffee molasses and some smokey wood. Flavor is full of smokey wood chocolate coffee and sweet tobacco which finishes spicy dry. This is a very flavorful porter, surly really takes there time with theses limited runs. Two thumbs up!

I would really say this is more of a porter then a smoked beer. I tasted some roasted flavor but not really anything too smokey. It rather sweet which I personally like. I could taste some coffee in there.

Hand bottle. Pours a stills viscous chocolate black. Vanilla, chocolate, coconut, and a touch of cherry pit all wrapped up in a light smokiness. Nice slick and creamy mouth feel. The base Baltic is solid with nice light chocolate and vanilla notes along with some toasted coconut. I do pick up subtle notes from the barrel and a touch of roastiness. Enjoyable, but I would totally welcome some more some flavor. I will try and get a bottle when it is released and may revisit then. Thanks Josh!
