Bottle thanks to billshmeinke. Pours with a tan head and a black body. Aromas of apple, maple, bacon, wood, light citrus notes (?), and brown sugar. Taste is smokey, oaky, vanilla, bbq, chocolate, [cannot read note], and surprisingly dry. Lively bubbles.

Sampled this one @ CCB. This one is the perfect smoke beer with the right balance. Dark brown in color, light tan head. Smoked malts blend perfectly with the oak that at times might appear to be in hindsight. Not over the top, and a tad extra smoke would have been even better. Lot going on there, dark chocolate, roasted malts, oak flavors come mesh together adding to the smoked malts and occasional bacon-like goodness.

Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours black with a tiny beige head and a smoky aroma. There is a hearty smoked malt flavor that sticks to the palate, and a dry slightly bitter finish. Great flavor for a lager and the smoke is not overwhelming.

750 ml bottle shared by STLWill- thanks again, Will. Very cool label with thick light gray wax. Pours black, with some hints of brown around the edges and no head. Aroma of hickory-smoked wood, bacon, roasted malts, and dark fruits. The flavor picks up with more smoked wood, bacon, and roasted malts, and along with a lot of chocolate, dark fruits emerge- plums and figs- as well as notes of licorice, earth, and molasses. Not smoked as much as the Alaskan, and also very sweet. Medium-full bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a smoky, oily mouthfeel. Some alcohol present. Very cool smoked beer.

Courtesy of Blazer06. It pours amber with hues of copper and brass to go along with an off white head. The aroma is light bacon with a sense of roasty malts and trying to move into a plastic sense. The taste is pretty full and rich with sweet malts, crystal malts, some roast and tasty bacony camp fire goodness. It stays smoky bacon to mild smoky burnt notes into the finish to go along with some ripe sweet cherries.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2009 On tap at FoBAB 5. Poured very deep brown with a dusting and a ring of beige head. Sweet, smoky peat dominated on the aroma with a little toasted oak representin’.. some dark malts (primarily chocolate) were behind, but the smoke prevailed. The flavor had more of the chocolate (and a bit of coffee) than the nose, with more complimentary smoked peat presence.. not much more than a little sourness showed from the oak.. warm with a lightly sour smoky finish. Creamy middle on the palate and medium-bodied.. enjoyed the warm smoky maltage that lasted through the finish. Nice one! 7 3 8 4 15

RERATE:
On tap at FoBAB as "Cedar Smoke". Poured medium-darker brown with a dusting of tan head. The aroma picked up plenty of smoke upfront giving an old cigar feel.. semi-sweet and darker chocolates on a nicely-roasted base.. well-presented. The flavor had roasty, mostly darker chocolates and vanilla at the core with spicy cedar accents.. finished dry and smoky/ashy. Medium-bodied and drier on the palate with lots of smoke.. great, satisfying flow to it.
