Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours black with a tiny beige head and a smoky aroma. There is a hearty smoked malt flavor that sticks to the palate, and a dry slightly bitter finish. Great flavor for a lager and the smoke is not overwhelming.

750 ml bottle shared by STLWill- thanks again, Will. Very cool label with thick light gray wax. Pours black, with some hints of brown around the edges and no head. Aroma of hickory-smoked wood, bacon, roasted malts, and dark fruits. The flavor picks up with more smoked wood, bacon, and roasted malts, and along with a lot of chocolate, dark fruits emerge- plums and figs- as well as notes of licorice, earth, and molasses. Not smoked as much as the Alaskan, and also very sweet. Medium-full bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a smoky, oily mouthfeel. Some alcohol present. Very cool smoked beer.

Bottle:   Nearly black, thin sudsy beige head, spotty lacing.   Beautiful smoked meat on the nose.   No band-aid at all.   Smells great!   Sweet smokiness up front, nice and smooth.   Wished it had a bit more body, but being as clean as it is I cannot complain.   Slight roastiness and dark chocolate too.   Really nice.   Lingering smoked malts and meat on the tongue.   This is great!   Not overly smoked like so many others.   Nice balance.   ABV is well hidden.   Good stuff!

Shared bottle at RBNAG 11. Smoke and oak aroma. Bacon, smoke, the body feels light, and the alcohol well hidden. Overwhelming, but lovely.

On tap at Stub and Herbs. Poured black with thin brown/tan head, smelled instantly of smoke and nothing else. Tasted much more balanced, with a nice malt start and thick smoky finish. Though not a fan of smoked beer, this one was the best!

4/19/11. Bomber courtesy mlunger12! Black pour with red edges and a small tan head that fades to nothing fast. Chocolate aroma upfront with a hint of sour and a subtle but definite smoke presence. Nice chocolate flavor with definite roasted malts of coffee and bitter roast with lingering vanilla and definite, but again subtle, smoke presence.

FoBAB 2007: Opaque with a fading head but left oily legs upon the glass. The aroma has a beautiful smoky nose along with plum, raisin, hazelnut, oak and bready esters. The taste has an initial malty profile with a background of ripened fruits, A big smoky and meaty finish is nearly perfect. A lovely flavorful beer. The mouth feel is lush and smooth with a smoky and barrel dryness upon the finish. A wonderful brew and one of my favorites at the fest.

In short: A very sweet, moderately smoky and a bit woody Baltic Porter. Fun beer.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed about 6 months after it was put into bottle. Sent to me by oakbluff. Thanks a lot Scott
The look: Black body topped by a short-lived beige head
In long: Nose is moderately smoky with notes of wood coal and some molasses. Taste is dark cake malts, molasses, black liquorice, vanilla extract, beach wood, some smoke, coffee filter, figs, kiwis (really!), too much residual sugars. A strong burnt brown sugar flavor from start to finish. A fun beer but after a full bottle the residual sugars were getting a bit too much for me. I was expecting more from this beer. I donít know if this beer was a one-shot beer or a new regular beer. I donít know what the state of affairs is. Probably Nevada because people have a lot of affairs in Las Vegas.

Draught @ Mikkeller & Friends, Copenhagen. Pours a black colour with a small head. Aroma of smoked wood, grass and malts. Flavour of smoked malts, tart-ish wooden notes, mild bitterness and cream. Medium bodied and a bone dry mouthfeel. Dry, malty, toasted finish. Good.
