COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our interpretation of a German Oktoberfest beer. This beer is a single hop lager, hopped exclusively with Summit hops. Being a Surly beer, we decided to dry-hop it. Is that a traditional German way to brew it? Nein, but we ain’t in Germany. We aged this beer over 11 weeks to let the flavors mellow into an exceptional taste. We used German malts and Crystal Rye for a unique flavor. Only one batch of this beer was brewed, so go and drink it while you can! Prosit!
Note: 2007 version brewed with Sterling hops.

Can from tyler... Amber in color, not much head. Nice malty/hoppy aroma. Taste is the same, malts hops, nice balance. Different from most oktoberfest beer but still good. Texture is average so it the carbonation level. Thanks tyler. Good beer...

clear pale copper color with a large off white head. aroma of hops... lots of juicy hops, skunk, grass, spice and some faint caramel. marzen traits are noticeable in the flavor if only slightly... butterscotch/caramel, crystal-y malt, toasted nuts and loads of hoppiness... pine, grass, spice, orange pith and a dry finish. medium bodied and decently carbonated to leave the palate dry and ready for more...

Pint can from the biggest trade ever from tytoanderso, thanks Tyler. Pours a good looking orange hued brown with a large frothy white head that leaves some nice lace. Very malt forward aroma with notes of bread, dough, spice, slight hoppy citrus, just solid and enjoyable all around. Palate has a medium to slightly thin mouthfeel with average carbonation and a rather dry finish. Flavor isn’t quite as outstanding as the aroma and a little more common with some bread and biscuit. Very solid despite the ugly can.

Thanks billy from hell and wife. This brewer scores way too high on this stuff. Good for them but I think it’s unwarranted. This one pours almost chestnut with a tall lingering head that leaves snail tracks down my glass. Aromas are hopped up with a touch of malty sweetness. This beer shows only a glimpse of the style they portray to include a rather taste defying hop component that ruins the whole thing. I appreciate the difference of conquest but I don’t drink Marzen for this. The body is full and very malty with some goodness going on but this hopped up creep comes in a spoils the fun. As a beer by itself, it’s decent.

Very similar to the oktoberfest homebrew I brewed this fall. Lots of hops-grassy and raw. Decently nutty. Rye.

Caramel colored beer with a white head. Aroma is grassy hops. Flavor is certainly different for an Oktoberfest. It’s fairly hoppy with a raw dough taste. Palate thin, but typical for the Oktoberfest.Finishes dry. Definitely all right.

Copper pour with a white head. Aroma of herbs, grassy/spicy hops, bread. Very interesting flavor - kind of like hopped rye bread. Mmmmm. Very long, tasty finish too. Palate is pretty standard for the style. Good beer.

The rye and extra hops make this one of the most unique oktoberfest beers I have ever tried. That being said it is particularly hoppier than a normal beer of this style. No less it is very easy to drink and is just chock full of flavor.
