Easily my favorite IPA. I know it’s a fresh hopped/wet hopped beer but this is as dank as some of the better West Coast IPA’s like Nelson and Duet etc. The 100% citra batch this past year was pungent and full of tropical fruit aromas while maintaining a nice dank presence. Can’t wait for this year’s batch with 100% Simcoe.

Last year, old notes. One of the best beers I have ever had. Incredibly fresh/hoppy flavor. The 100% citra hops killed it. Love this beer!

From notes at last year’s Darkness Day. Pours hazy orange with a white head. Nose is dank and floral citrus hop aromas. Flavor again lends dank, citrus, and resinous intensities with a milt biscuit malt richness. Mild bitterness, dry, and drinkable.

Pours a cloudy orange color with a soapy white head. Intense grapefruit and tangerine hop aroma, a little bit of pine, and some toasted bread malt. A little bit of sweetness, some floral aromas, and light grass. The flavor has a toasted malt base with lots of dank hop flavor. Citrus, pine, and floral flavors all over the place. Lightly bitter with a very potent hop character.

Very rich bold hopp flavors come through, with a tangerine tint and a citrus scent. Can really taste the resins from the fresh uncured hops.

Can 1pt.16fl.oz.

Unclear medium orange colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, orange - citrus, grass - leather. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, dry hops, malty. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120320]

This Rusty Dark Orange DIPA has a strong piney/citrus hop kick upfront followed by a rather sweet caramel and malty finish. A bit boozy tasting for an ABV this low at 7.5%. Still an excellent beer from Surly overall

Smells like a hopped up pilsner, nothing really stuck out. This is the only vintage I’ve had and honestly it tasted like a hopped up budweiser, not impressed at all.

Pours an orange amber with a medium creamy white head. The aroma is pine, citrus, and slightly floral. The taste is delicious with lots of pine, citrus, orange, and well balanced with a medium malt backbone. Hop bitterness is pleasantly firm and the beer, as a whole, is incredibly smooth. Great IPA!
