16oz can courtesy of Tom... Pours a mostly hazy orangey copper hue and topped with a creamy white head... Melony tropical fruit and sweet tarts and a touch of aspirin... Flavors are semi-sweet with a citrus pineapple feel to go alongside some aspirin and sweet tarts. Medium fluffy body with soft to medium carbonation. Not bad but not up to par with some of the hoppy offerings had these past few days.

This is perhaps the best IPA i’ve ever had! Poured with a small to average off white head and a little lace. Color is a clear amber. Aroma is the freshest hops and balanced against malt, caramel, fresh bread. Flavor is like nose and again the freshest hops perfectly matched to the malt, yeast, and carbonic tang. Body and carbonation excell. Finish is like flavor and surprisingly of average length considering the fullness of the flavor.

A couple pours on draft at the 3F XV Anniversary party. Medium amber pour with a thick white head. Aroma of dank hops, grass, pine, tree leaves. Lots of citrus manifesting itself as grapefruit and orange peel, a touch of tangerine. Some malt backbone, soft toffee and caramel notes. Smells nice enough. Flavor is strongly bitter. Sticky, resiny and pine hops. Lots of citrus, grapefruit, tangerine. Some more sweetness than i remember in the last few batches. Toffee, caramel, a cotton candy-esque sugar. Its still delicious but not quite what i remembered before. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel, average carbonation. Overall, really great ipa.

16 oz can. Clear amber with a coating white head. Nose is orange peel, cat musk and toffee. Medium body with a soft buzz, hoppy with a creamy bite. Taste is bitter mandarins, green olive, toffee and lemon. Different but it works. Stands out in a sea of good IPAs.

16 oz. Can, Thanks to Tripplebrew. At the crack of the can I could smell luscious hops. Slow carbonation makes a full, fluffy white head with great retention. The smell of fresh hops is intoxicating. Awesome nose. Flavor is mild grapefruit, pine and a touch of floral hops. Body is medium. Very light bitter finish. Somewhat dry finish. I personally like the Citra hops. I NEVER would have guessed this came from a can. I would have said draft if I haven’t pored it from the can myself. My kind of IPA.

Can shared at the 2011 BA SJ gathering. Poured a light honey gold color with a large flufy white head. Aroma of dusty grains, citrus meat and flower stems. Smooth soft body with lighter carbonation. Flavor is a bit better then the aroma with grainy bread, citrus, graperuit and grassy hops. This one just doenst hold up to the likes of Hill Farmstead and Heady Topper which I drank just before this one.

This one was canned on 10/4, consumed on 11/14. Admittedly, it’s not my first can out of the 4 pack, the other two having been consumed on 10/19. Still, I’m hoping for something great. Aroma: Fruity and citrusy, and fairly sweet. Oranges, grapefruit, lemon zest. Wait. There’s something more here. Clementine. Wow. Appearance: Orange and bubbly, with some fluffy white head going on all up in here. Fairly clear. Taste: Surprisingly malty. Lots of orange sweetness, with the tangy dryness of grapefruit in the background with that bitter hoppy finish. Lemoniness through the whole thing. Sweet then dry, and nicely refreshing. Palate: Medium body, lower side of medium carb. Sticks to the mouth, feeling a lot like eating grapefruit. Feels surprisingly soft, with just a tinge of alcohol. Overall: One of the better IPAs on the market if you ask me. It’s not quite what last year’s batch was, I think because of the change to all citra hops. Still, it’s got a groovy beat that I can dance too. Er. Drink?

Very nice hoppy Surly offering. Very fresh tasting, with citrus and hop flavors. Very smooth yet carbonated palate that makes this very refreshing. I don’t like nearly as much as 2010 Wet which was 50% Simcoe, but very impressive none-the-less.

Tallboy can from a friend’s recent trip to Minnesota. Pours a light orangey tan with a long-lived bubbly white head. Aroma is deliciously fresh, green pine, with just a touch of lemon zest. Sharp, bright flavors of hop resin and sweet caramel, strong bitterness up front and at the tail end.

The IPA pours golden and clear in color, lighter than expected. The aroma and the flavor have nice notes of the citra hops, then there is a bit of maltiness as well that rounds it all out.
