3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
16 oz can into a shaped pint glass.
A - Dark copper body with an impressive white soapy head that stuck around for a while. Really great lacing and retention.
S - Dank hops. Very piney, resinous and savory. Just some light grapefruit and bubblegum followed by a bit of caramel malt. Iím not getting a ton of fruity aromas but there is some sweetness to it.
T - Piney hops followed by a huge bitterness that wonít let go. Sweet and sticky. The bitterness sticks around for a good minute. Some light bready malt and citrus round it out. Despite the huge rush of hops it remains balanced and composed. Mouth feel is a bit lighter than I would have liked, but the carbonation is solid.
O - A great wet hopped ale. Not sure if I would go out of my way to trade for it, but I was stoked to see it as an extra...especially being this fresh.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Easily my favorite IPA. I know itís a fresh hopped/wet hopped beer but this is as dank as some of the better West Coast IPAís like Nelson and Duet etc. The 100% citra batch this past year was pungent and full of tropical fruit aromas while maintaining a nice dank presence.
Canít wait for this yearís batch with 100% Simcoe.

Last year, old notes.
One of the best beers I have ever had. Incredibly fresh/hoppy flavor. The 100% citra hops killed it. Love this beer!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From notes at last yearís Darkness Day. Pours hazy orange with a white head. Nose is dank and floral citrus hop aromas. Flavor again lends dank, citrus, and resinous intensities with a milt biscuit malt richness. Mild bitterness, dry, and drinkable.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a cloudy orange color with a soapy white head. Intense grapefruit and tangerine hop aroma, a little bit of pine, and some toasted bread malt. A little bit of sweetness, some floral aromas, and light grass. The flavor has a toasted malt base with lots of dank hop flavor. Citrus, pine, and floral flavors all over the place. Lightly bitter with a very potent hop character.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very rich bold hopp flavors come through, with a tangerine tint and a citrus scent. Can really taste the resins from the fresh uncured hops.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This Rusty Dark Orange DIPA has a strong piney/citrus hop kick upfront followed by a rather sweet caramel and malty finish. A bit boozy tasting for an ABV this low at 7.5%. Still an excellent beer from Surly overall

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Smells like a hopped up pilsner, nothing really stuck out. This is the only vintage Iíve had and honestly it tasted like a hopped up budweiser, not impressed at all.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours an orange amber with a medium creamy white head. The aroma is pine, citrus, and slightly floral. The taste is delicious with lots of pine, citrus, orange, and well balanced with a medium malt backbone. Hop bitterness is pleasantly firm and the beer, as a whole, is incredibly smooth. Great IPA!
