16 oz. can shared at Dave’s tasting. Pours a very hazy gold with a white head. Pleasant aroma that is dominated by grapefruit. The flavor is similarly dominated by grapefruit. Strong bitterness at the finish. Very one-dimensional hop-forward beer.

Thanks to whit for this. Pours cloudy golden with a small white ring. Aroma is fruity and grapefruit hops. Taste is a fabulous bouquet of grapefruit and floral hop bitterness. Great grain sweetness for balance.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can shared at the First Kinki Beer Tasting. Considering the hype I was expecting more. It poured a cloudy gold with a grape, slightly funky fruity aroma. The body was a bit watery while the taste was bitter, fruity grape with a clean ascerbic finish. I am surprised at the hop bill, how did I pick up grape???

Full disclosure, this can was more than a month old. Color was golden brown, somewhat peculiar foam, rather large bubbles. Aroma was unremarkable, lightly hopped. Flavor tended toward the malt end of the spectrum. The hops were there but didn’t live up to the hop forward character i expect from surly wet. So not a bad beer, but doesn’t meet expectations.

Had not had previous wet beers. Tasty but not one of my favorite wet hopped beers. Overall still a really good beer. Funky and fresh

Huge fan of this seasonal usually, this year is the rare year it disappoints. Smell is not fresh, sorta stanky but not good stanky. Funky stanky. Flavor is just flat, no juice to this one. I love you Surly, but this one missed the mark for me this year.

16 oz can courtesy of a lovely box from storminspank. Thanks, dude! I owe you. Pours a nice gentle hazed striking amber orange hue. Well carbonated, healthy glow is golden orange. Small cakey offwhite head atop stays as a decent layer, laces ok. Ok stick around as a decent layer. Aromas show green and earthy, firm grapefruit juice and rind. Gentle pine with bigger florals, grass. Not as fruity as previous years, more earthy with a nice grapefruit juice kick at times. Fresh, but I wouldn’t say complex, some bready malts, straw, and cereal. Initial is firmly bitter, hop juice is floral, a bit fuzzy, firmly bitter and dry. Grapefruit juice and some orange, florals and a bit of resiny pine. Dry bread and cereal elements. Firm bitterness, firm hop flavors. Middle is a bit muted, citrus rind meets florals, bread and some firm dryness as we kick into the backend, firmer dryness, bitter freshcut florals, a bit of lilac, grass, and gentle resiny pine creeping in and complimenting well. Some lemon juice, more florals, a touch of gumball sweetness back there at times, showing a bit of spiciness, firm floral and earthy hop dryness, grapefruit kicks at times. Firmly bitter and dry but not as complex as previous vintages’ hop selections. Nose isn’t as vibrant but beer itself is quite nice. Probably a little steep pricewise, but it is quite fresh, firmly bitter and dry with a small malt body, albeit not a lot of oomph or hop flavor/life. A solid beer through and through
