Orange and hay nose. Cloudy amber, medium yellow head, fairly good retention and lacing. Overripe orange, hints of nougat, pencil shavings. Resinous bitter orange peel finish. Full body, moderate carbonation. Nearly a DIPA and drinks that way too.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Opaque appearance with a large white head and good lacing. Tropical fruit and citrus mingle in the aroma as the grains circle in the background. Rye and other grains add a substantial backbone for the diverse hop profile. Enjoying the solid body, generous mouthfeel and lingering finish. Alcohol is evident but not harsh. Might be considered a DIPA. This is one I really think is underrated

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear copper and bronzed coloured body with a thinnish, relatively fast-dying tan head. Aroma of bright citrus and lightly piney hops, some grain and distinctly rye notes and a pleasant crisp metallic note.Light to Medium-bodied; Strong rich rye flavours coupled with a lot of bright hops, some moderate complexity with both the hops and the malt and even a little caramel sweetness. Aftertaste is crisp and enjoyable with a very minimal sweetness, but the hops really shine through along with the rye grain. Overall, a nice beer with a subdued complexity, but the rye really does stand out here. Definitely worth sampling if you can get this beer, especially on tap! I sampled this thirty-two ounce growler fill on draught at Whole Foods in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 05-March-2016 for US$8,00 sampled at home later in the day and the following on 06-March-2016.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very nice sized bright white head of fine bubbles and very good carbonation. Aroma is ripe fruit, peaches and lemons along with some dry grass, light malts and earthy hoppiness. Color is a slightly hazy bright orange. Lively in the mouth with some tea leaves, floral hops, moderate bitterness and lemon grass. Lingering herbal bitterness. Light alcohol presence and warming. This is a pretty good and better than i expected. I have come to have low expectations from a lot of the local PA brewers. This ones is pretty decent.

Poured from growler into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear amber color with a two finger head of white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a good level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a grapefruit hop smell mixed with a moderately potent rye bread aroma. Along with these aromas are some quite nice smells of a tropical fruit nature with some tangerine and mango along with some other hop aromas of a pine nature. Overall the aroma has a nice blend of hop, rye, and fruity smells.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice smooth and moderately sweet flavor, with it being as a mix of a lighter grapefruit hop, some fruity flavors of tangerine and mango and a nice somewhat doughy and bready flavor. As the taste advances the rye that was detected in the nose starts coming to the tongue, mixing with the fruity-sweet and grapefruit nicely. Some flavors of lemon come to the tongue around the middle of the taste being accompanied by some flavors of herbs and a lighter flavor of pine. The pine grows stronger to the end with it replacing some of the grapefruit hop that was present upfront. Along with the increase in the pine, there is also an increase in the fruity flavors of the brew, and with a slight increase in the rye flavors, one is left with a pleasant sweet tropical fruity rye bread flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. These characteristics are quite nice for blending the sweeter tropical fruits with the blend of hop and the rye to make for a rather smooth and easy drinker.
Overall – A very enjoyable rye IPA with a good balance of fruitiness, rye, and hop. Quite enjoyable.
