Commercial Description:
Sydney Bloomfield farmed at Offwell until he died aged 40 in 1926. Remembered today as a quiet, kindly man he was also tenant of three other farms on the Southwick Estate, in all running 700 acres using only horse power.
Also see www.suthwykales.com. BLOOMFIELDS BITTER (3.8% ABV) has crystal malted SUTHWYK barley added, as well as ‘Fuggles’ and ‘Goldings’ hops to impart a deeper golden hue. Mildly bitter with a fullness of flavour.

A golden brown coloured beer with a strong white head. A hoppy nose with a citrusy edge. A dry hoppiness in the initial taste followed by a somewhat sweet yeasty malt flavour, but not unpleasant, the finish is dry. (Bottle - Purchased from The World of Wines, Southsea, Hampshire).

Poured from the bottle (courtesy of the London crew), a clear amber with no head. A juicy hop aroma, hinting of passionfruit. An oh so smooth mouthfeel with a nice long bitter finish releasing flowery and fruity flavours. Yum.

Nov 07 Gravity Cask @ Southwick Brewhouse. A nice traditional bitter with pleanty of and rounded almost floral hops. Quite sessionable 3.3
Feb 06BCA (BBE Jan 07). Suprisingly a yeasty TCP nose which hides most of the hop character. Plain nasty which is odd given the usual high quality of Oakleaf. Av rating given.
