COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Danish: The idea arose at Christiania, where a group from the beer club Sirius and the brewmaster from Svaneke made homebrew. In lack of disinfectant gin was used, which spread its aroma if juniper berries. This gave the asembled group a clear vision: To brew a juniper beer. English Ale yeast, Golding hops and Vienna malt are but a few of the secrets.

[Sampled with the trio: Svoger, Svogergylp and Adenila Foged at EBF, 2008.] Although it is long time I’ve tasted this I remember noting especially within this brew. Sorry!

Bottle, bought at Christian X, Tønder. Pours amber with a big, frothy, off-white head. Aroma is quite hoppy, some fruitiness and a bit of juniper. Sugary sweetness as well. Medium carbonation, okay, dry mouthfeel. Flavour is quite dry, lots of juniper and pine notes. A bit harsh in its spiciness and bitterness. A little bit of caramel maltiness.

Moderate hoppy aroma. Creamy, light brown, mostly diminishing head. Color is red and the beer appears coudy due to the unfiltered process with average density. Very special with heavy acidic and harsh bitter flavor. Medium bodied creamy with soft carbonation. I don’t think this one will end up in my shopping basket again.

Bottle. Average off-white foamy head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Light cloudy amber color. Aroma of juniper and mild berries and floral with some underlying toasted malt and light caramel. Hint of fruit as well. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and light dry texture. Light to moderated sweet and bitter flavor. Light bitter fruit finish properly from the juniper.
