Bottle 50 cl. Labeled "Rød Julebryg"... Smells weird of something burned and it’s in the flavour too. Bad batch?
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Hansen (5449) - Assentoft, DENMARK - NOV 11, 2006
Mine was called "Rød Julebryg", but I think its the same (Abv is 5,7%). Clear and amber colour. White head, not lasting. Has a malty aroma and flavor, perhaps a small note of laqurice.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Theis (11081) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - OCT 29, 2006
Bottle at home - shared with Mette.
Clear deep red - white head. This has the same taste as all Apollo-brews - strange. Wierd malty, rye, bread, sour, yeasty. Not Good.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 rane (781) - Nibe, DENMARK - OCT 24, 2006
Well the christmastime is coming up, but no gifts yet!
In the glass it look very much like a christmas beer huge and long lasting offwhite head and reddish brown colour and lots of carbonation. The aroma is disappointing with a little notes of caramel. And the the doesn´t differ much from a standard pilsner. Not very much aftertaste maybe a little malt.
The price is much too high for this beer. A little more expensive than the ordinary beers would be ok, but 5 times that price is too much. Try Brøckhouse or Carlsbergs Semper Ardens instead.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 bridge (659) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - SEP 6, 2006
Slightly opaque dark brown amber with a big frothy head that left lots of lace. Aroma is mostly cherries with some sweet caramelly malt. Nicely balanced flavour that tended towards sweet, but had some bitterness to complement. A good honest drink. (Thanks to highlandlad)

Despite its modest ratings I enjoyed this as much as any of the Danish Christmas beers that I’ve had the pleasure of trying thanks to the estimable Papsoe. It’s not as sweet as some and has a light smoky flavour that gives it some complexity IMO. Looked great - cloudy copper with a towering shaving foam head that hung around like a fruit fly on jam-making day. The aroma is very sweet, with oodles of malt. It sparked a childhood "smell memory" from the 1970s when my ould Scots ma discovered the German rumtopf and we had a long summer of raspberries, cherries and strawberries soaked in rum. This julebryg has rum-soaked cherries and a pinch of cinnamon. There is more body here than in many dunkels. It’s sweet, but not cloying - the more I drank, the more I liked. It has many of the characteristics of the Xmas style, plus a little extra oomph. Among the flavours were cinnamon, maraschino cherries, coriander, Xmas spices and a whiff of fireplace. Of course, I’ll defer to local raters who have more experience of the style but I enjoyed this one. (50cl bottle courtesy of Papsoe - thanks Henrik; best before 10/7/06)

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 kook (2033) - Perth, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA - MAR 1, 2006
Bottle: Light ruby brown with a beige head. Mild roast with some ash. Almost a little smokey. Clean malts, not bad. Thanks Papsoe.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with an off-white/beige head. Dryish hoppy and nutty malty aroma. Flavour is sweetish with annoying acidic notes. Malts. Dryish. Faint metallic notes. Boring. 22-02-06.
