Bottom fermentation, medium full and medium bitter whole malt beer. Vienna lager and Bavarian Märzen were the inspiration for its composition. The color is closer to Märzen and the bitterness closer to Vienna lager. Märzen, Czech March beer, used to be cooked in March, which is still rather cold. Nowadays we have mechanical cooling and, therefore, we cook amber all year round.

This was a special bottle hand delivered from Czech republic by Mom and Dad. Figuring out how to add rating was like a lesson in Czech. Jantar = amber. Polotmavy (the style) literally translates to "shadowy". This is the real deal- the amber lager of the Czech Republic. Pours a nice deep orange with a decent head. Has the definite crispness of a lager with some of the warmth that a darker malt brings. Fairly light mouthfeel and a good amount of bitterness in the finish. Definitely has spicy notes typical of the region. Really ncie. Perfect way to celebrate move.

UPDATED: JUL 21, 2013 500 ml bottle as Sv Norbert Special Beer Amber Lager. BB? From Cuso. Cheers!
Hazy brown colour with a small white head. Berries, mild diacetyl sweetness, mild bitterness and some farmyard notes in the aroma. The flavour is quite nice. There’s bitterness, candy sweetness, hops and biscuit malt in the flavour. Bitterness in the aftertaste.

On tap @ Strahov, Prague. Unfiltered. Aromas of grain (but again, it was in the air that day), hops, fresh, creamy, dairy. Amber body, off-white creamy head. Sparkling and lacing. Fruity taste, clear hops, mild bitterness. A slightly bitter finish, refreshing yet warming. Medium bodied, full taste.

Thanks to Ryan for sharing this. The pour is amber in color with an off-white head. Toasted bread and sweet malt on the nose. Really fruity and heavy on the esters, too. Sweet malty flavor. Lots of toast and bread with a ton of fruit esters. Pear, apple, and grapes. Light hops in the background.
