on tap at the brewpub, february 2013. more of a dunkelweizen than dunkelweizenbock but no need to quibble when it’s this good. a beautiful very dark brown with a fluffy beige head; aroma of musk and caramelised banana; flavours of creme caramel crust, toffee apple and some wheaty acidity with a touch of burnt grass. very nicely balanced; yet another great beer from strahov

Dark brown color with small head. Aroma of malts, roast, caramel, bananas. Taste is light sweet, light sour, damn good balance. Light body, oily texture, avarage carbonation. May be the best Czech weizenbock

330 ml bottle. From Cuso. ĄMuchas gracias!
Dark hazy brown colour with average size creamy off-white head. Dark fruits, malt, raisins, mild alcohol and some tartness. Refreshing fruity flavour with mild bitterness, mild tartness and darkish malt. Very balanced. Quite thin though. Enjoyable.

Klásterní Pivovar Strahov, Prága (I’m not sure about the original czech name of this seasonal beer).

bottle via Cuso in trade...hooray! Deep dark brown. Single finger beige head. Steady carbonation. Strong spicy nose with light whispy bananna esters. Strong baseline of the wonderful wheat yeast strain I enjoyed so much at the brewwery a number of years ago. Body is light to moderate and does not linger. Finish is abrubt. Slippers on and relaxing in the barko lounge chair. If there was a bit mopre body it would be glorious.

Bottle from brewery. This year, brewery decided to make dark Weizenbock. Dark brown almost black color. Aroma of roasted malt, toffee, caramel, hints of honey. Taste, coffee, caramel, dark chocolate, dry bitterness in background. Nice long dry bitter finish. Excellent Weizenbock.

"Three Kings" wheat beer on tap at Klásterní Pivovar Strahov, Prague. Pours a hazy orange colour with moderate carbonation and a foamy white head. The nose is citrus fruits (particularly orange), yeasty, wheat and grassy. The taste is orange, sweet tangerine, peach, pineapple and wheat with a pleasant foamy mouth-feel. It is a decent wheat beer which is easy to drink.

On tap at the brewpub. Cloudy orange with a firm and lasting white head. Aroma dominated by spicy phenols, along with plenty banana esters. Dry bready malt flavour with banana and spice. I’m not a weizenbock lover, but this is a well crafted beer for sure.
