Sweet aroma of caramel and dark maltiness. Mouthfeel is thin. Pretty boring flavour, there’s a cherry note in there which is nice but otherwise mediocre stuff.

Bottle. Dark brown with a frothy, moderately durable head, Moderately roasted aroma with some coffee, caramel, dark chocolate and some vinous elements. Taste is only slightly sweet in the finish, coexisting with a light bitterness. Moderately roasted taste with moderate caramel-coffee-chocolate elements. Everything about this beer is moderate and forgettable.

Mittelmalziger Antrunk. Würzig mittelintensiv, mit der Zeit süßer werdend. Dabei tief malzig bleibend, recht würzig, leicht hopfig-herb. Der Abgang ist etwas bananig und sehr malzig. Vollmundiges Bier! Test vom 27.8.2008, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 13,11,11,13,-,11 - 11,52

Bierkrug (2109) - Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, GERMANY - JUL 3, 2011
500 ml bottle in Germany thanks to shrubber85. Pours a very dark red, almost black with a thick tan head that lasts. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel and some smoke. Taste is very smooth throughout with a mild roastiness and hints of chocolate in the malt. Palate is a creamy texture with a well balanced finish. I enjoyed this one.

Bottle sample courtesy of The Losh. Very dark oily pour lets in some light creating an ambery hue. Has a moderate beige cap. The nose is very roasty, and hints at coffee and vanilla, with some grassy hops. Sweet, but fairly balanced by floral bittering hops. Medium light body,Long bitter finish with musty like black coffee in the end. A good effort from this brewer.

Aroma sweet darker show with lighter caramel and brown sugar notes. Gentle hop finishing. 6-
Appearance excellent appearance. Fine thick haze on light garnet with touches of brown. Large, long lasting stiff beige top. Is this natural or nitro in play? 4+
Flavor and Palate : Caramel on earthy tones . wood , mineral cellar like depth. Soft fine texture. Very smooth , not too sweet. It does have right amount of dryness at finish, Balanced well measured dunkel. Solid choice.

On tap at Baráčnická rychta in Prague. Clear, dark ruby color with an off-white head that leaves lacing. Pretty much no carbonation. Very smooth mouthfeel. Aroma of malts, lots of caramel and also caramel in the aftertaste. Very enjoyable Dunkel.
