Best before Dec 14, 2010. Aroma of sweet fig along with some slightly roasted coffee and forest/wood/wet earth. Peppery, herbal hop in the aroma too, pretty substantial even. Something of a frothiness to the head; lingering lace. Much, much redder/rubier than the German dunkels I have been having. Looks nice. Flavor has some roastiness, more than in the Germans lately, and waaaay more than in the Polish dunkels! Nice little bit of hop spice in the flavor, of the grass and pepper variety. Overall good, but not mindblowing like some of the recent dunkels I’ve had.

Bottle @ Pulp, Athens. Brown-red with thick head. Licorice throughout aromas and flavors is yummy and welcome. Fits into a good CZ dark beer pocket.

Aroma sweet darker show with lighter caramel and brown sugar notes. Gentle hop finishing. 6-
Appearance excellent appearance. Fine thick haze on light garnet with touches of brown. Large, long lasting stiff beige top. Is this natural or nitro in play? 4+
Flavor and Palate : Caramel on earthy tones . wood , mineral cellar like depth. Soft fine texture. Very smooth , not too sweet. It does have right amount of dryness at finish, Balanced well measured dunkel. Solid choice.

Bottle - Rally nice dunkel in colour, thin, quickly disappearing head. Taste comes with coffee bitterness, some sweetness and the roasted malt is like a wood. There is a note of banana as well. Raally nice one!

On tap @ Penzion Mona, Harrachov. Pours slightly hazy dark brown with stable light tan head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel with a note of dried fruit. Complex, sour and sweet flavour of malt and fruit, offset by a bitter hoppy aftertaste. Decent.

Bottle 0,50L. Clear, dark amber/mahagony colour with average big, frothy, light brown head. Aroma of caramel, a little aroma of coffee and chocolate, too. Taste starts light sweet with some chocolate and caramel. Finish is medium bitter and still chocolaty. Medium to full body, oily texture and soft carbonation. Another good Czech tmavy...

Ascelja (15) - Neratovice, CZECH REPUBLIC - AUG 10, 2014
Bottle 0,5l Tesco Neratovice 17 CZK
Aroma: light sweet, toasty, bread, nutty, notes of chocolate and roasted malt.
Chesnut coloured body with ruby glints, tall slow falling off-white head, nice creamy. Residue of this is sitting on the glass bottom after drinking.
Flavour: at first little sour with nuts, bread, next full of toasty, again gread, roasty sunflower seeds, notes of honey and chocolate, medium sweet, light bitter. Finish bitter, hops, malty. Aftertaste is disturbing - musk, but nothing strong to decrease full and well balanced taste. Carbonation is low.
Overall: The composition is arguable - isoextracts of hop, sugar... But even this, on flavour it is one of the best tmavy I ever tried.

MrManning (2003) - Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 17, 2011
Bottle sample courtesy of The Losh. Very dark oily pour lets in some light creating an ambery hue. Has a moderate beige cap. The nose is very roasty, and hints at coffee and vanilla, with some grassy hops. Sweet, but fairly balanced by floral bittering hops. Medium light body,Long bitter finish with musty like black coffee in the end. A good effort from this brewer.
