Bottle from Cesky Potraviny U Olinky, Cape Hill, Birmingham. Fizzy amber with a big, long lasting head. Aroma is typical sweet malt lagerness. This is dry, crisp and tart with a long, metallic bitterness. It’s decent.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can from Matt. Thanks Mate. Pours clear golden straw with light off white head and somewhat resilient lace. Aromas of noble hops with a light malty hay, cereal and a touch of caramel. Light medium body, medium high carbonation and an average bitterness. Finish is nice and crisp with a nice bitterness making way for a nice melanoiden finish.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Very pale golden body with medium big white head. Moderate, rounded of malts, cereal and donut, but not bad at all. Some sweet banana-like fruit (candy). Light sweet taste, bit of maltyness, luckily not very harsh, dry or metallic. Lacks the nasty flavours of so many pilsners, so it’s actually a decent beer. Active carbonation to balance the sweetness a bit. Well made. (50cl bottle)

50cl Bottle from Tesco Plzen. Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of grain, light sweet fruits, hint of alcohol, grassy hops. Flavour is light to medium sweet, banana, light grainy, malty, grassy hoppy bitter finish, light herbal, with a light tingle. Light bodied, just a bit overcarbonated imo. Decent stuff.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle - Clear yellow, with not big but lasting foam. Taste is grainy with decent amount of hop. Could be more complex but not bad for a bohemian.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Ceske Potraviny u Olinsky, Dudley Rd, Birmingham. Pours deep gold, with a nice white fluffy head. Smells like a packet of dessicated goods. Not massively flavoured, but a wedge of lemon inhabits the dry, salty main body of the swig. Refreshing and solid. A smidge of sharpness, but generally has very good balance. A superior lager. Rewarding.

Great beer with low volume. Everybody should try at least one of the Svijany beer. Máz should be the starting one.
