COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
GINTARINIS beer belongs to the “Pilsner class”, it’s volume is 4.7% and the colour is of light amber. The beer is made of malt, hops, beer yeast and fresh water. This is the lightest beer that belongs to ŠVYTURYS family. Lithuanian beer lovers like it for it’s fresh, slightly bitter taste and long lasting aroma of hops. In 1999 it was awarded with a gold medal in “Product of the Year” contest by Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists. It might seem wired today, but in 1995 when reconstructed ŠVYTURYS brewery offered GINTARINIS beer in Klaipėda for the first time, the lowlanders decided that brewers are making fun of them. “They cheated! They diluted it!”, shouted fans of dark beer who were used to ŽIGULINIS. The way of GINTARINIS into the hearts of Lithuanians was not easy. At first this beer was made darker and thicker on purpose. Later it became lighter and has been improved until it met the requirements of ŠVYTURYS technologists and consumers. GINTARINIS is available in 0.5 litre bottles. Because the demand for the light beer is constantly increasing, the brewers of ŠVYTURYS are dreaming about creation of new, even lighter beer that would be perfect to stay the thirst and refresh on the hot summers day.

As if I can be arsed to read all that nonsense. It’s a lager. A nice light fluffy lager with a soft head, a little more aroma than your average lager and a little less acidic chemical piss. Is that praise?

Bottle. Pours a very clear and pale yellow with a tiny white head. Aroma of hops. Description says "malt, hops, beer yeast and fresh water" - and that’s about what I get form it. And mostly water...perhaps some hay too. Perhaps not the best recommendation ;-) but it’s refreshing enough.

The head is medium. It smells strange, close to chlor. The taste is very, very watery, a bit sour, dry. Really not my beer. 10/2/2/2/11/2

Bottle under the alias Svyturys Amber from Global Wines, Smethwick, with big thanks to DanielBrown. Yellow pale lager with the typical salted sweet malt taste. No nasty aftertaste or similarity to bodily fluids, which is always a bonus. This is ok - it manages to avoid being bad without also managing to be great.

Bottle. Malt and weak hops in aroma. Clear light yellow colour with white head. A little more malt than ususal for a pale lager and a typical bitter finish.

A pale yellow coloured beer with a frothy but weak head. A distinctly malty aroma, light, biscuity with a hint of bread. Dry mouthfeel. The taste starts off slightly tart, fruity and hoppy, then the malt takes over, adding a bready flavour, that dissipates towards the finish, leaving just a metallic hoppy taste.
