Baltijos is the oldest brand of Lithuanian beer, and is the oldest brand of beer produced by the brewery Svyturys, since 1965. Baltijos, which is strong beer of dark amber colour, stands out with brownish and particularly thick foam, rich and sweetish taste of caramel, which is felt in the mouth for a long period of time. Baltijos won the bronze award at the World Beer Cup in the category of German-style Märzen/Oktoberfest.

Bright copper, clear bodied. Nice off white head but doesn’t last. Malt and molasses on the nose. Flavour follows the nose. Uncomplex. Thin bodied, medium carbonation. Finish tends toward the sugary. Butt middle of the road, overly sweet.

Bottle shared with McTapps. Nice one with a bit caramel and malt in the aroma. Not a rocket but still quite drinkable.

McTapps (1492) - Ruhrgebiet, GERMANY - JAN 5, 2013
Bottle shared with MichaelBruch, bought in Mix Markt, Bochum. Light ruby-red in colour with low head. Nose of malt and red apples. Taste of very mild hops, low malt, hazelnuts and dark roasted grains. Seems a little bit like a Bock, but goes down easily.

Bottle at home. Really too sweet for my palate - very strong caramel flavour (so the PR blurb is no lie) - good looking though - dark amber colour, clear and bright. Not a bad beer if you like them on the sweeter side.

Flaska. Mörk bärnstensfärgad öl med vitt skum. Doftar av torkad frukt, karamell och körsbär. Röda bär, smörkola och choklad i smaken, som rundas av med en viss beska.

Fresh 50cl bottle. Aroma:caramel, hay, chocolate, a little bit of citrus. Beautiful SRM 20, dark amber, clear, with frothy head. Light sweetness, and light bitterness. A bit sour, but not to much. Medium body, velvet creamy texture. Soft carbonation. Bitter finish. Enjoyed from branded glass, and I would say that this beverage fits it. If you are visiting Lithuania - definitely look for a fresh bottle of Baltijos. Next time I will search for it on tap.

Pours clear amber with a very minimal tan head. Aroma is caramel, nuts and some toast. Taste is sweet with some metallic tartness, this was on tap and not out of a bottle. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
