COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
GINTARINIS beer belongs to the “Pilsner class”, it’s volume is 4.7% and the colour is of light amber. The beer is made of malt, hops, beer yeast and fresh water. This is the lightest beer that belongs to ŠVYTURYS family. Lithuanian beer lovers like it for it’s fresh, slightly bitter taste and long lasting aroma of hops. In 1999 it was awarded with a gold medal in “Product of the Year” contest by Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists. It might seem wired today, but in 1995 when reconstructed ŠVYTURYS brewery offered GINTARINIS beer in Klaipėda for the first time, the lowlanders decided that brewers are making fun of them. “They cheated! They diluted it!”, shouted fans of dark beer who were used to ŽIGULINIS. The way of GINTARINIS into the hearts of Lithuanians was not easy. At first this beer was made darker and thicker on purpose. Later it became lighter and has been improved until it met the requirements of ŠVYTURYS technologists and consumers. GINTARINIS is available in 0.5 litre bottles. Because the demand for the light beer is constantly increasing, the brewers of ŠVYTURYS are dreaming about creation of new, even lighter beer that would be perfect to stay the thirst and refresh on the hot summers day.

Canned 500ml. -from Iki supermarket Vilnius. Yellow/pale golden coloured, medium sized airy white head that went away fast, herbal nose. Malty, herbal and slight grassy with short bitterish finish. Typical Lithuanian lager.

Have a lot of eastern European supermarkets where I live and often buy beers in them to try the different brands. I have enjoyed Svyturys Ekstra before but was disappointed with this. Nice when it hits the tongue but has a medicinal aftertaste I wasn’t keen on. I like the brewery, they do some good beer, bit stick to the "Ekstra" Dortmunder.

Ogi’s, from Lithuania, can - thanks! Poured a yellow-golden body with a big, thick white head. Lively carbonation, slightly fizzy. Mild grainy - (quite) herbal nose, soft, light notes reminiscent of pear. Shitty bad herbal taste ending in a strange aftertaste, oily. Man. :/ Yeah, the "fans of dark beers" / "lowlanders" from the commercial description were right.

Can from Continental Food Store, Wakefield. Clear pale yellow, no head. Light tasting lager, some wheat beer style aroma, but ordinary lager in taste.

Served from a 568ml can, 4.6 % abv. Chalk white lager head. Clear straw-gold coloured body. Spotty lacing down the glass. Malted wheat on the nose. Taste of buttery malts and wheat. Mostly sweet endnotes. Soft carbonated. Drinkable, but nothing to get excited about (kindly shared by djoeye, Tromsø 27.02.2014).

Wheat beer sweetness, spices, apples, floral stuff to the nose. One-finger tight top, pale clear golden baltic body, some lacings. Hops, malts, sweet malts, butter, fruits, fruit-syrup to the tongue. Normal to palate. Finishes with sweet malts and bread and toffee. Overall; lacks hops but surfs alright anyway. (pint can abv 4.6% b@marijampole LT - tasted@RateMeet w Rune 2014Feb27)

Bottled . My first review for 2014 ; Motherfucker !! A generic eastern euro pils may be a humble and shitty way to start the rating year but when in Rome dawg . . Rich malt nose ..quiet flowery and floral but gluey and slickly too -kinda cheap smelling . The beer looks and resembles every Pils that has ever come outa some piss-ant place ..golden and white ; Its more light and relaxed to drink than the aroma would have me believe ; Watery , dry , then beefy and robust malt driven stuff , with slices of toffee covered booze like textures ; This is ok considering what it is .

Appearance: very light yellow, tiny white head. Aroma: straw, cardboard, grassy, rubber. Flavour: tangy straw, caramel, grassy, wet cardboard, bitter, plastic too. Ugh.

Bottle. Pours clear yellow, some carbonation, limited head retension. The aroma is toast, hay, straw. The taste is lightly grassy, a little sweet, not great, not awful.. not Svyturys best, in my opinion.

Pale yellow beer. Discreet but medium musty aroma, somewhat metallic, a hint of autumn morning and wet textile. Rich but short-lived foam. (maybe it’s my glass...). Lacking bitterness. Sweet and honelike, a bit oily. Slender body and a caramel after taste that is easily killed of with some precelki. Loses with each sip. Overall impact not very appealing.
