Bottle... Pours clear and dark copper with a small, creamy, white head. The bouquet is a luxuriant intermingling of vanilla, caramel, toffee and bourbon. Medium to full-bodied with a thin mouthfeel and laid-back carbonation. The flavor is of sweet caramel and bourbon up front, then tannic bitterness on the backside. Finishes hearty and bitter-sweet.

Bottle, 01/12/2014. Pours transparent ruby brown, medium white head fading within a minute or so to an island of fizz on the surface, dense medium ring of lacing around the glass. Aroma is syrupy fruity dark malts, caramel and pecan, really pie-like, undercurrent of vanilla with crisp piney hops, buttery bourbon. Taste is creamy caramel, nutty toffee mixed in with hint of chocolate, vanilla bourbon, big bitter finish with hops and booze. Thick body, chewy. Pretty tasty for sure.

Another big beer courtesy of the Saturday afternoon football and beer crew. Initial impression is giving me a smooth syrupy and slight soy sauce flavor. Bit of an alcohol bite on the back end. Sweet and nutty like pecan pie. The nuts do come through pretty well. Vanilla and oak and wood on the aroma. Light bitter touch on the back end. Complex, big flavors, no idea how anyone would even remotely be able to drink a 750 of this by themselves.

Colour as old Armagnac, and not more head. Rosewater and booze exploding on opening. Not very refined aromas, really - cognac, indeed. Sweet, but not cloying; but again very much rosewater-like, on bitter wood, bitter herbs and tons of sugars. Nutty (but I couldn’t tell pecan). Warming up, it acquires more balance. Lots of alcoholheat, well-bodied, and alcoholic-slick rather than viscous. Good, if not refined Barley wine. Heated!

Another tasting from the Atl Boyz. Poured semi flat and like most bourbon barreled big barleywines I have had. Big whiskey, huge sugary toffee/caramel. I swear I know that the pecans are playing a nutty part in the taste. Just big booze, big sweet, big caramel and big bourbon.

RBSG 2013. I assume this is named for America’s worst President. Red (like Roosevelt’s economic policies) color. Sweet with hops and lots of alcohol.

Bottle at RBSG. From notes. Caramel and toffee with a huge bourbon kick. Awesome. I wish I could drink this everyday.

Snifter shared by owner to try to make up for the limit debacle that they created. While I was next to get my bottles, they changed the limits, kind of pissed that this happened, went from 2 bottles to one, he at least tried to make up for it by offering a sample. Poured an amber color with aromas of caramel, toffee, booze, light nuts, and some earth. Flavors are the same, not a bad barrel aged barley wine, but had high hopes for this beer. Glad I got to try this beer and didn’t have to open the one bottle that I had.

Bottle from drowland, thanks bro. Pours a clear light red, some nice head. Good whiskey flavor, caramel/toffee nose. Flavor has nuts, booze and more toffee/caramel.
