3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 rbrazell (974) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 13, 2013
Bottle from Fermentation Market. Hazy deep golden pour with a large rocky white head. Aroma of old cheesy, doughy, dirty diapers, hay light spice and citrus. Funky, cheesy yeast character up front fading in doughy pale malts, grainy sugar sweetness ending on a spicy note. Not noticeable alcohol and very lively carbonation. I do like Tripels and this one is pretty solid, but I can’t get past the shit smell in the aroma.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 dimenhetfield (2357) - , Florida, USA - MAY 12, 2013
Thanks to Dosbeerigos for busting this one out. I believe this one was kind of a gusher. None the less it had a nice spicy citrus aroma and drank very typical of most tripels.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 PhilTheThrill (25) - Florida, USA - MAR 21, 2013
thanks to anne marie at the abbey for the bottle sharesies:
in bottle at mermaid juice
this is awesome. just a beautifully simple tripel. (also why does the autocorrect on ratebeer change tripel to triple) smells a little yeasty, applesauce, orange... taste here is just so light and airy which is what i want out of a triple - i don’t want those super bang you over the head tripels. i think i like every new swamp head beer i have a little more - big ups to the new florida beer boys. we’re getting new stand outs all the time.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Leighton (6989) - London, ENGLAND - FEB 22, 2013
Bottle at RBWG 2013, thanks to Eddie! Pours light fuzzy gold with a fine, white foam head. Smells pretty nice, some doughy malts, hay, cereal, white sugar. Medium sweet flavor, white bread, light bitter straw. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, some dough, white bread and white sugar,MIT of hay, mellow cereal. Pretty drinkable stuff.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 markwise (3807) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JAN 27, 2013
Bottle from Swamp Head. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is tremendously reminiscent of Saison du Swamp-- I would venture to guess that they used the same yeast. It’s that kind of scuppernogs meets some tart orange and yeasty pepper with some mild funk with some sweet malt in a supporting role. Flavor is similar with some sweet malt, but the yeast wants to be the star of this show- scuppernogs and tart citrus with yeasty pepper. Medium in body, yeasty, and one to ponder for sure.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Brigadier (2240) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - JAN 20, 2013
22 ounce bottle
Thanks to tastybeer for hauling this back from Florida. It is nice to try new things from the state of Florida rather than always falling back to Cigar City (as good as they are). This particular bottle was nothing special but I can see Swamp Head carving out a nice regional niche based on the quality. I’ve certainly had worse.
Aroma / Appearance - The creamy orange base and rich white head look like a liquid creamsicle. Spindly legs carry the scent of applesauce and dry yeast. It feels a bit muddled but is fair enough.
Flavor / Palate - A light sweet mouthfeel feels like alcoholic candy on the tongue. Honey, apples, and peaches give it a fruity kick that isn’t quite enough to sustain interest in the long term. I’d love to try a few more Swamp Head beers to see if this is just an aberration or par for the course.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 raradel (227) - Atlanti Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 7, 2013
Enjoyed at a @JaxBrewBitch bottle share at Brewer’s pizza in Jacksonville,FL... This one was a great Belgian rendition. I’ll take more please! Very true to the style for something out of Gainesville...

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BMMillsy (688) - Florida, USA - DEC 25, 2012
Poured from fresh bottle Dec 25, 2012 into generic tall tulip glass. Pours hazy yellowish orange with medium creamy head and nice bubbles fizzing up from the bottom nonstop. Aroma is pears, honey, apples, mango, bit of yeast and ever so slight spice. Smells excellent. Medium bodied with steong pear and honey flavor. Slight bitter on the finish with a lingering sweetness and banana. Clean finish. Very nice offering from Swamp Head. Pretty labeling too.
