On draft at the Brass Tap, poured a dark brown color, almost black. Aromas smoke, light roast, some coffee with some light peppers. Flavors are the same, very little pepper flavor. Interesting, light chilis in the aftertaste, but not enough to bring any heat.

Draft at Fermentation. Murky dark brown pour with a small white head. Nose is smoke, acidic berry, mild chilis, and some roasted malt. Flavor is acidic dark berries, old coffee, roasted malts, light smoke and chilis. Palate is thin and low carbonation. Blah, kind of a mess of flavors.

Tallahassee, Fl - on tap at Fermentation Lounge. Dark brown pour, sticky khaki colored head with a bit of lacing. Aroma is green with a hint of peppers and some black potting soil. Flavor has the same potting soil background, a hint of chipotle pepper heat, some roasted, burnt notes. Nice, dry mouthfeel. Pretty solid.

Think Smoke Signal as an American rauchbier - lots of good smokey flavor with some sweetness you might not expect. I didn’t get any Chipotle flavor and definitely no hotness. Overall, a very nice drinking porter.

Pours a thick black on tap, at Proof Brewing Co., with a thin tan head and light lacing. Aroma of smoked chillis, dark chocolate, slight coffee. Taste is nice, more of the chocolate, like a sweet chilli flavor. Pretty good, but smoke is lost in flavor, I’m ok with that.

Draft at Swamp Head tasting room in Gainesville. Pours a dark brown color with a tan head with some lingering lacing along the glass. Aroma has a nice mixture of roasted malt and the smokiness from the chipotle peppers. The peppers become more pronounced in the flavor the more the beer warms including a bit of heat in the finish.

On draft at Swamp Head. Pours a hazy brown with an off-tan head. Nose is some light smoke and some light earthy peppers and some light roast. Flavor is similar- the peppers and smoke blend pretty well and the balance is certainly there. More peppers as it warms and smoke in the finish.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2012 8/8/12. On tap at Green Room. Black pour with a small tan head. Light smoke and smoked pepper aroma with more of the coffee and cream aspects of a porter. Light smoke, chocolate, coffee, and cream in the flavor with lingering touches of pepper, but it’s somewhat subdued.

Very subdued beer, Chipotle is low profile, sweet pepper, not hot. Little to no smoke flavor. Chocolates and cream.
