Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a near clear dark brown with a fluffy tan head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a bit of earthy dark grains with some light fruits, a bit of pine and some chocolate backing. Flavor has a combination of earthy dark grains and pine with a bit of light fruit underlying.

This is a fantastic dark ale. It drinks like a black pale ale, slightly hoppy but that’s a good thing. Aroma is citrusy, appearance is black and the mouth feel is smooth. The taste is citrusy and sweet with hoppy bitterness, oh so delicious. This is one of the best dark ales I’ve ever had. Trust me if you try it you will enjoy it.

Bottle, courtesy Bud, thanks! Pours black with a tan head. Some retention/lace. Aroma of wheat, chocolate, light citrus, earth, vanilla. Taste is lightly bitter, big wheat, chocolate, earthy, quite sweet. Palate is soft, creamy, sweeter finish. Came off as weizenbock more than Black IPA to me.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Opaque deep brown with a thin tannish white head. Good lacing and very thin collar. Aroma of dark caramel and chocolate. Taste is very chocolatey, but of dark chocolate. Medium body and low-medium carbonation. Decent beer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark brown, almost black with a big mocha head. Aroma big on malt and chocolate not on hops. Taste is bitter, dark chocolate, caramel malt. Bitter hops are present but not overpowering. Really nice, somewhat balanced but in a good way

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black IPA close to a smooth hoppy stout. Malts and sharp piney hops in the nose. The taste has a roasted and smoky flavor which work well with the grassy hops. Light bodied. Good.

Weak on the aroma but great taste. A little hoppy up front with good toasted malts and a little sweetness. Bitter but smooth finish and nice carbonation.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle courtesy of bmmilsey, thanks bro! Pours a near black, thin looking coming out of the bottle with a ginormous tan head. Aromas of roast and topical fruity hops. Taste is similar - roasty, fruity clean tropical hops. Pretty juicy. Finishes with a roast and a hop bite. Only detraction is the ultra-thin mouthfeel. Decent, by any measure.

Alert the presses. Another Black IPA that I didn’t detest. To be fair, if I had known it was a Black IPA I probably wouldn’t have given it a chance. Poured deep, dark brown with light tan head. Scent is chocolate, roasted coffee, and a touch of pine. Flavor starts mildly bitter, has a roasty midsection, and finish barely sweet. Medium-heavy body with appropriate carbonation.
