Recently, some fresh picked, skunky, funky smelling green hops showed up at the brewery. It was HARVEST TIME. Each year, right around the time that the weather starts to cool, fresh sticky hops are picked off of the vine and sent to us overnight so we can use them in a "Fresh Hop" or "Harvest" ale. This is done quickly so we can use these little guys before they lose a single bit of their intensely dank aromas and flavors.

Bottle from scotchzi at Proof. Pours an amber/caramel color with almost no head and very thin collar. Aroma is mostly medium malt sweetness. Taste has some slight tropical hop notes; otherwise, just the medium maltiness. Medium body and light carbonation.

Poured a light golden color with aromas of caramel, fresh hops and some peppery pine. Flavors are the same however some fresh green hops come out in the flavor. A nice little fresh IPA that is best fresh

Bottle shared at the 8th Richmond Industry Gathering, 12/1/13. Pours a clear golden color with a thin off-white head. Good head retention. Aroma of peppery, herbal, pine hops, caramel malts. The taste is green, resin and pine hops, caramel malts. Medium bodied.

Deep amber colored pour. Big off-white head that quickly falls. Plenty of lacing. A initial aroma of citrusy hops. Taste is malty with some hops. Not as hoppy as I would have, and do, expect. Not a bad beer though. More of an English IPA.

Pours hazy amber color with off white head. Aromas of pine, tropical fruits and some caramel. Similar flavors, but more malty and less hoppy than I prefer. Medium body with average carbonation.

Yellow pour, white head. Sweeter than I would like, hops are a bit lost and not cohesive in this one. Grainy and needs some work IMO.

750 courtesy of BMMillsy. It pours with a murky amber body that has gold edges and supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up modest levels of pine and slivers of apple and pear fruity sweetness as well as a touch of biscuit like maltiness. The taste is pretty pine like up front and it gets to resiny hop bitterness in parts. There’s also an odd mix of lager like yeasty sweet fruit esters such as apples and faint pear notes with sweet malts and slivers of roasted malts off in the background. Interesting.

GABF 2013. Pours a bit hazy dark orange appearance with a light tan head. Really fresh and spicy hoppy, piney and dank, grapefruity, a bit herbal aroma. Tasty easy drinker. Light caramel, piney hops, grapefruit, lemon flavor. Would drink again.

Thanks to Homer321 for grabbing me this. Pours a deep amber-bronze color with big off white head. Moderate hop aroma, some citrusy character along with a slight funky green grass note, sweet malt also present in aroma. Flavor is fairly malt forward, slightly sweet and notes of caramel malt. Hop flavor is on the low end as far is the description of this goes. Was expecting much more. Some moderate bitterness in the finish. Overall a good beer but would have liked a much bigger hop presence.
