COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoggetowne Irish Red is a traditional Irish Ale brewed with the finest English malts and hops. This beer was developed through a collaboration with the Hogtown Brewers - Gainesville’s American Homebrewers Association recognized homebrew club. The Hogtown Brewers serve the Irish Red along with other Swamp Head beers at the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire, a Renaissance Faire held each year during the last weekend in January and first weekend in February. Thanks to the outstanding reception of Hoggetowne Irish Red, it is now served by better craft beer bars and restaurants through St. Patrick’s day. Hoggetowne Irish Red has a medium light body, with moderate malt aroma and 6.5% alcohol by volume. It is deep amber in color due to the use of roasted barley; it features low hop aroma, with almost no hop flavor. Hoggetowne Irish Red is an easy drinking ale with a clean caramel malt flavor and a hint of roasted grain.

Pours a clear copper on tap with thin off-white ring of bubbly head. Aroma is red caramel malt and a nice earthy hop back. Taste follows slightly bitter but more sweet make at the end. This could have been better.

Tap at Black Squirrel for CBC. Pours a low haze red to amber. Weaker foam. Nose is gummy candies, sweet maple, but something like vinegar. Odd. Taste is cherry juice box, very bland overall, mild sugar. Not much to it. Suddy, weaker body. No hop content.

Tallahassee, Fl - Fermentation Lounge - on tap. Murky dark orange pour, medium thick off-white head, light lacing. Aroma is pretty much neutral with a hint of earthy peat. Flavor profile presents some light caramel, a touch of toffee, some raisiny sweetness in the back end. Thick enough mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

Tastes like a competently brewed homebrew kit, nothing more and nothing less. Light sweet cereal grains, a bit like honey nut cheerios, but nothing to recommend it over anything else. A pretty bland creation overall.
