Midnight Oil is an Oatmeal Coffee Stout. "Quiet and sensual like a moonlit night, this complex blend of toasted oats, roasted barley, chocolate wheat malt, and dark roast organic coffee, imparts an intense aroma and complex flavor profile. Midnight Oil will wake up your senses. We brew a traditional English oatmeal stout with a rich malt profile, then add locally roasted organic fair trade coffee while this ale is cold conditioned. Cold extraction imparts an intense coffee aroma and flavor without the bitter oils using heat processing techniques

Thanks BBMillsy for the growler! Deep black pour with a brown mocha head. Aroma is coffee upfront with a rich aroma of oatmeal and roasted malt. Taste is coffee, oatmeal, chewy, burnt char, roasted malt. Black patent? Nice lacing. Nice coffee and oatmeal aftertaste with burnt char on the tongue.

Draft on a guest tap at Six Ten Brewing, Tampa. Pitch black color with head that died slowly to nothing. Aroma is real nice. Coffee is bold upfront with a light amount of oats and chocolate.

Flavor is just has nice as the aroma, big coffee profile right at the forefront with the oats giving a nice fuller body that seems bigger then 5% ABV. Flavor is strong at that gravity. Nicely crafted with plenty of lingering coffee after the sip. Sessionable and I could indeed drink a lot of this brew.

On tap at Gnarly Barley, Orlando. Sweet, butterscotchy coffee and molasses aroma with horehound candy and fudge accents. Opaque black under a lacy, tan collar and patch. Flavour is cappuccino and vanilla sauce, over a fudge brownie. Medium black malt bitterness. Medium body, smooth but not sweet with the medium carbonation.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2012 On tap at Stogies and Stouts and FBG Fest 2010. I really enjoyed this beer. It pours a nice dark brown/ black with an off-white head. Nose is earth, coffee, roast, slight sweetness, and malt. Flavor is similar with a medium body and lingering roast and coffee. I really liked this beer both times.

First off, if you been paying attention to my ratings (and I hope you have, there is a test), you have probably deduced that I love coffee stouts. Some might even call me a sucker for íem. So this was right in my wheelhouse. Great coffee aroma and flavor, maybe a hint of chocolate in the background. Thinner bodied, so itís easy to drink. Really tasty brew.

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2016 Itís now basically a pure coffee stout and itís gotten to a point of being solidly above average. So good work.

On tap at WOB Port Orange. Super dark color with a thin brown head. Very dry flavor with hints of roasted malts. Aroma had hints of dark chocolate and nuts. Not too bad but perhaps just a little too dry.

Old rating. Black pour with cream colored head. Heavy oats, dark chocolate, roast, coffee. Smooth, almost creamy finish. Quite good.
